Wolfenstein: The Launch Trailer

Looks pretty cool. I have never played any of the later DOOM games (I probably should) but anyways, I am looking forward to this.

It looks decent, although i'm rather annoyed by all the "special powers" they include in modern first person shooters... especially one that slows down time.

Or that one which makes the enemy glow.

@Jaesun
You never played "Return to Castle Wolfenstein"?

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Looking forward to it. Seems like it has a lot more fantasy elements than the previous game, but I'm okay with that as long as it stays within the Nazi mysticism + super enginners theme.

gawd YEARS ago (when it came out) I played Wolfenstien 3D (my brother had a copy) I did enjoy it, but never finished it.

As for Return to Castle Wolfenstein, would you recommend it? Due to being a grumpy RPG fag, I refused to play FPS because quite honestly I suck at them. But after playing DX, System Shock 2, Half Life, Half Life 2FEAR, Crysis I'm slowly but surely liking FPS's more.

It looks pretty cool.

RTCW was an excellent multiplayer game, didn't play the single player much.

Not really looking forward to this new one. Zombies and nazis are starting to be overdone. Try something new, game industry. FFS.

I liked RTCW although I thought it declined in quality towards the end.

I won't buy this on release, might pick it up when it drops in price (if it gets good reviews).

RTCW was fucking awesome, probably one of my fav FPSes, tbh.

As for this new Wolfenstein, I have a bit of doubts. Dunno why, but after watching some of the gameplay footage it awfully reminds me of Bioshock (which is BADBADBADBAD), but as I said, I have no idea why.

But then again, this is Raven Software we're talking about, the company that probably didn't do a single bad game when it comes to FPSes

RTCW was gud, but when near the end zombies with swords and shields started to appear, it lost some of it's appeal to me. Wolf3D on the other hand was (and is) the definition of awesome.

Yes, although it is a demanding FPS. Not like those piss poor FPS nowadays.

The catacombs level was pure awesomeness. *Thank god, I found 5 rounds for the KAR!" - lack of ammo FTW.

RCTW has the best multiplayer experience of all times.

I've tried the leaked MP Beta for the new Wolf last week. My system (P4 3.2 XE, X1950 Pro Agp) had no trouble running it at 1280x720. While the level design was good and very reminiscent of the original RTCW levels, game mechanics felt like terribly consolized dumb down shit. There are only 3 classes: medic, soldier, engineer. Thankfully, maps were and linearly multiple objective based but still felt but the it just didn't feel right.

I wish someone did COD4 meets RTCW :/

As others have mentioned, the MP in RTCW was insane. Looking forward to the MP in Wolfenstein, not so much the single player. Hope id kept the class-based dynamic intact for multi.

The generic morphing monsters theme looks incredibly gay.

You probably shouldn't.

Yeah, RTCW was THE game for me for like a year and a half. I played it every day. 90% of the time I was a Venom Soldat, Engineer, or Medic. I thought it was ironic that Medics made the best front line troops, if you know what I mean. As long as there was someone to give them ammo they benefitted from health regen and higher base health, and the more on your team the more health your whole team had. It's a shame the panzerfaust was so god damn overpowered in that game.

I feel that I must comment on this as the Codex's most obvious Wolfenstein fan.

I'm not hyped for the game, this is coming from a guy that lost an unholy amount of days playing Wolfenstein.

Can't explain why, but I find that giving the hero super powers kills a favorite them of mine. Humanity triumphing over technology and the supernatural.

Your ignore list.
RTCW was great up until that point when super natural shit started popping up and ruined the game. That final battle will be forever marked on my brain as a huge disappointment.

I've played Wolf3D countless times when I was young and have fond memories of it, and given the current state of the gaming industry I seriously doubt it will get anywhere close to the original in terms of quality, fun and lasting appeal.

Also, given the lack of imagination of game devs, I'm yet to see something as awesome as the two hidden wolfenstein levels in Doom 2. That kind of easter egg is what made someone love a game developer, but now all we get is bonus itamz if we preorder an expensive and gay collector edition of a shitty game.
