I loved the original so I'm a little hyped for this I admit. Mostly because I can't really figure out how any wokeness could possibly ruin it, due to the nature of the gameplay and setting (though they always find a way if they want to).

Man, the original had a great story, like a movie! Cried like a baby. Best game ever.

Why did it take them 16 years to develop a sequel?
Did they spent the first 15 years snorting coke of hookers' tits?

Turns out World of Goo 2 has been already released over the summer as an Epic Store exclusive. However, they've managed to negotiate a deal to sell the game on their own site as well so you can go all-in on the nostalgia and relive the times before every indie game was available in every digital storefront.

Looks pretty inventive actually. I'm gonna get this and play it with the kids.

I paid $5 for World of Goo back in 2009, I'm not paying $30, six times as much, for the sequel. Waiting however long it takes for a decent Steam sale.

five bucks in 2009 are worth about the same as five thousand bucks in 2024

This is exactly the line of reasoning that makes it so difficult for quality niche games to earn sufficient revenue to support their developers. :rpgcodex:

The first one is a 3 hour 2D puzzle game. This is a 6 hour 2D puzzle game. I'd pay $10, double the price.
