  • Trial of the Gladiator is the new Arena Ladder. It will concentrate queue times at certain times during the week, which will help higher rated people have others to play against and help to identify exploiters.
  • Trial of the Gladiator also uses tournament rules. You can buy gear from a vendor and play, no need to grind up a set. PvE gear won't work in here!

Well played, Blizzard. Looks like I'll be playing your garbage once again. :|

Seriously. Retaking Argus? Naga and Azshara? Emerald Dream? Hell even using the portals in Outland to travel to other worlds would have been better. It's like they had no idea where to take the story of Warcraft after the Lich King arc that started in WC3 was over.

Everything may sound a bit underwhelming, but their only chance was to try to go back and necro the old Warcraft characters and vibe (Somehow). They are already sayig there will be more expansions, but I bet they don't have a clue about what to do next.

Level 100 seemed like a nice round number to finally euthanize this game...

It's good to have orcs the alliance can actually kill. Also I kinda like the draenei so a space goat themed expansion is alright in my book. Wait for my frustrated butthurt posts a month after exp is released.

I hope they bump up the number for this mythical raiding to 25 (or more).

I'm really surprised it is 20 instead of 15, but like they said: they are expecting at least one of each class in it. If they set it at 15, they would likely feel pressure to break that expectation when they add a 12th class.

So not that I've reach much today but how are they going to deal with the anachronisms? Wizards protecting the time stream or some bullshit like that? Wouldn't the entire world change if Garrosh stopped a fairly pivotal event from happening? Never mind the notion of Nerzhul never becoming Lich King.

Probably their half-assed attempt to put emphasis on larger guilds again. Which is a good idea, since the death of 25M guilds (along with LFR) can probably be blamed in large part for the huge fall-off in subscribers they've seen in recent years.

Metro, they've never demonstrated much interest in maintaining continuity or believability of the world. There have been plenty of timestream events in WoW already that stretch plausibility and aren't really accounted for at all beyond a superficial way.

Yeah but this goes beyond the '...merely a setback' meme. This shit just flat out makes no sense. Oh, and the final boss is... Garrosh again? It's like Mists Part 2.

They mentioned that they are using the notion of split timelines. The 'primary' timeline future that your character is from has a character that goes back in time and alters a 'split' timeline. The Iron Horde in this past timeline wants to use Dark Portal + Time Magic to link the 'secondary' timeline's past to the 'primary' timeline's future.

It is more like multiverse travel than time travel.

Illidan is the ultimate white knight fantasy. After losing his girlfriend to his older brother, he goes to jail and gets some tattoos. Then after waiting a mere 10,000 years, he decides to leave his mom's basement prison. Now he's got an empowered woman chasing him. Feeling badass he decides to pick a fight with a guy named Arthas and dies.

Like most internet white knights, Illidan doesn't let a silly thing like being defeated soundly and fighting on behalf of someone who both doesn't need his help and despises him slow him down. He makes some new friends by giving them vials of powerful drugs. Finally, the empowered woman catches up with him and kills him because woman are of course stronger than men.

But it's ok, cuz she feels empty afterwards. True love.

In addition, we’ll be retiring a few stats that players don’t find very enjoyable to manage, such as Hit and Expertise.

So... what stats are left? Just the basic stamina, strength, agility, intellect, and spirit? I know they got rid of defensive stuff last expac. Also there's only four leveling dungeons, two level cap dungeons, and they're redoing BRS. Lazy.

Oh wow.

There will be new stats in place though. Also hit and expertise were kinda dumb anyway, you'd reach hit cap with entry level gear and leave it there, a stat that you have to leave at a certain absolute value makes sense to be removed. Of course they could fix the system instead of removing but that is not the blizzard way.

Garrosh won't be the final boss as I understand it, he'll just trigger the events.

There isn't really any time-travel. I mean, there is, but it's just between two locations, and it's not "back to the future history-altering time-travel."

Kinda given up on coherent lore anyway :D

New models are looking great. New areas look nice.

Raiding stuff seems kinda stupid but I don't even know if I'll be raiding.

By the way the Garrosh going back in time in a portal shit is linked to the Timeless Isle introduced in the Orgrimmar patch.

From Rövddit:

During the WoW panel after Opening Ceremony Chris Metzen didn't want to say who Garrosh's partner was, but Chilton let it slip a few minutes later.

Kairoz, the Bronze Dragon we've been collecting Epoch Stones for is the one that takes Garrosh back in time. Chilton let it slip when he said "So Garrosh has Kairoz link the Dark Portal from Draenor from thirty years ago to the Azeroth of today."
