Play this game without graphical mods/updates -- the way Vivec intended.

I remade my wannabe paladin, took a little magic and went for medium armor. I am planning to eventually finish the game this time, with expansions... This year. Trying hard not to abuse the shit out of everything but I've already succumbed to the creeper and his prices. I am planning to go without combat spells, using just shields, enchants, healing and stuff like that.

Nothing wrong with using Creeper, he's kind of conspicuous anyway.

Mudcrab merchant on the other hand..

I've been wanting to do a rogue playthrough but I'm too lazy to even install basic mods like MCP and shit.

Using Creeper makes for boring playthrough imo. It's basically dungeon -> teleport to Caldera -> dungeon -> Caldera ad nauseam as you lose the incentive to visit other places to sell your loot. Anyway, I don't need the Creeper, I already have half a million at lvl 30 with the Mourhold merchants alone.

MCP is not vital for playing a rogue, is it ?

Creeper is an essential part of the Morrowind experience.

Yeah, one of the downsides to the game is that unless you invest a lot of time and skill in either the Great Houses or the East Empire Company you'll frequently end up just dumping your shit all over the floor when you run out of space.

On a related note, could someone recommend me a house/castle/manor mod that has the following specifications:
- not useless big (as in, Helios Keep where I couldn't even find the room supposed to be my own bedchamber)
- not a copy/paste of an existing interior (which usually include owned containers and unique items)
- is not like an empty museum
- doesn't have faux books bookshelves
- doesn't have ingredient/armor/weapons sorters (I can do that myself, thank you)
- doesn't have angels and unicorns

Thanks in advance, although I don't hold much hope.

Private Tower Balmora has a relatively compact main area that connects to an exterior entrance in the SW plaza and adds a convenient door to the Mages Guild for fast teleporter access. There are some shelves, tables, and display racks but it doesn't overdo it. As I recall, there are a few additional areas to the building, but it's simple to ignore them and just use that one main area.

Asgard and Rain's Hand Hall add enormous mansions near Balmora and Ald'ruhn, respectively, and aren't what you want.

Belgarath's Tower is located by the Telvanni canton of Vivec and is relatively modest, with a few floors. Though one of those floors is a library and another has a number of mannequins, so perhaps it isn't what you're looking for.

Thanks, I'll give a try to the Private Tower. I did try Asgard a long time ago and it is indeed exactly what I'm not looking for.

I have never been much of a "HURR HOUSING MODS!!!1" person, but I was using an earlier version of http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/5846/? at some point. It seemed decent enough apart from too many armor mannequins.
Other than that there are strongholds and quite a few places that might get vacated - tragically or otherwise - during normal gameplay and can therefore be taken over.
IIRC containers lose ownership on owner's death.

Neither am I, but I'm tired of always using the same old flat in St Delyn Canton, I don't want to join a Great House and I don't want to murder anyone for a house.

It's amazing how crappy many house mods are.

That's the main reason, yes.

Others include the fact that I'm lazy and that there are many places where quests take you to kill the occupant(s), where occupants leave during the course of the quest and even wilderness hideouts with only bandits and other such non-respawning occupants.
There is little point in trawling the web for all sorts of housing mods that usually feel like cheating and aren't adequately integrated into the gameworld, providing no rationale of their existence other than housing the player and being "AWSUM!!!111".

Personally I usually use Vorar Helas' house in Balmora at least for some time during my playthroughs as he tends to have an unfortunate accident during the course of a certain quest from Hla Oad (the accident not technically being part of the quest but the guy had it coming). It's small, cosy and located next door from Caius.

Erm aren't Redoran guards wearing bonemold armors? I got my hands on the set but my character does not look like the guards on the street.

I am talking about

MW-npc-Redoran_Guard_%28female%29.jpg

I am thinking about joining them since they'd fit my class and they look p. cool. They should also be in good relationships with the Imperial Legion, Tribunal Temple and Fighters Guild.

Use Hlaalo manor to dump loot, Caius' house or guild to sleep if you don't want to kill Hlaalo chambermaid.

There are multiple types of bonemold armour. Not sure which ones they have.

Only the chestpiece is generic. Go to Balmara for the helmet. The Pauldrons, I dunno.

What is this, Sims? Who needs a house? Anyway, I did this one quest where I had to bring a slave back to some guy but he tried to kill her so, ofc, being the abolitionist I am I killed him and freed the slave. The dude's house is right next to Caius' so it makes for a suitable 'loot dump.'

I used to use Hlaalo manor (without killing the maid, though) but then I realized that all the containers were owned.

I'm kinda giving up on the whole idea of house mods, anyway. I tried making an empty manor and filling it using the Furniture Mod, but after 5 mn it felt like playing a doll's house simulation game.

House mods are not the most crappy Morrowind mods by far, though. Landmass mods other than Tamriel Rebuilt also have a tendency to add particularly retarded content.
Even widly praised mods like Chilrdren of Morrowind, or Lokken, or NoM, or The Underground, err on the derp side.
