I haven't played any of the AAA CRPGs this year but I think Caves of Lore can stand on its own because of the all the secrets you can find and various means of lite environmental interaction you can perform to trigger them.

BG3 Act 1 was really good, something interesting around basically every corner when you start looking. Having trouble thinking of any other contenders honestly - Colony Ship maps are hard to get to grips with because you're being teleported around a lot (and there's no map!), Rogue Trader hasn't had anything too impressive so far, Diablo IV didn't have anything particularly mindblowing, and Starfield managed a few good dungeons but nothing to write home about.

It's been a good year for cRPGs but a mediocre (at best year) for maps in cRPGs.

I always found the Geneforge maps rather charming:

Whatever part of Tamriel Rebuilt they released this year, their maps are fucking excellent.

Definitely the Koronus expanse map in Rogue Trader.

SIMPLY majestic.
