Well they all end up with the battle at the dam, but otherwise from what I've seen they're actually pretty different.

I got past freeing the prisoners without combat by sheer luck. When I was looking around the camp for ways to free them, some NCR troopers attacked the camp and the legionnaires ran off to fight them. While they were gone, I happily untied the prisoners and we went our merry way.

yeah it's a caravan protected by NCR that's scripted to pass through the nearby highway as you arrive. just kite the legionnaires over to them, profit. you can also buy from the caravan traders.

It is too bad that rpgcodex turned into an emo gamer site

Game was good, far superior to Fallout 3, if you are one of the couple dozen people who played Fallout 1 or 2. Though if the only reason you enjoyed Fallout 1/2 is because it is isometric and turnbased, then you are fully lost.
