The problem with RDD is the same as the problem with Shapeshifter in BG2.

Having high STR is pointless if you don't have a good BAB/THAC0.

Sure you can boost your Strength all the way to 30+ by level 15 with a RDD. But you still won't have a fighter's BAB, or the feats that give him better attack rolls and criticals with a particular weapon. Same way a level 7 werewolf in BG2 has a pathetic THAC0 of 13 even with Draw Upon Holy Might and other buffs, whereas a lower level fighter can easily have a THAC0 of 7-9 without buffs.

That's true about the feats, but 10 levels gives +8 to strength, which gives a +4 to attack in addition to the +7 to BAB (or +11 to hit vs a +10 for ten pure fighter levels). So its really a question of whether the five feats beats an extra +1 to hit +4 to damage, +4 to AC, +2 extra constitution, +2 intelligence and charisma (and RDD is an add on for charisma classes), along with a breath weapon, better will saves and various immunities.
