Fable.

You are imprisoned and get one a chance a year to escape by competing in a race. Each time you lose the race, another year passes and your character ages.

Always found this section immensely distressing after de-aging my character at one of the Temples and also limiting level-ups so that he wasn't a 65 year old man by mid-game.

But not the Curst prison though, because it's more like you intentionally get in there and immediately break out. Or Ravel's Maze, also for same reason as above.

It is the very Lady's Maze we are talking about. Do bad shits and Lady of Pain throw you there. If you can not find the correct way (which is not easy) you are imprisoned there until either you find out, or ragequit entirely. if you can escape the first time, you can be thrown there the 2nd time (I think), but the 3rd time you get Lady's deathstrike, one of the few rare way to get endgamed.

There's a (occupied) planet subquest where you get thrown into a prison and you have to spend time doing text quest to get outta there.

Literally any fucking dungeon crawl since Ultima Underworld fits the bill, jeez rusty, don't be such a retard next time.

Visiting a dungeon to look for xp and treasure chests is not the same thing as being imprisoned in one.

Space Rangers 2 has an entire text adventure with lots of stats and multiple ways to get out. You can just wait your time, break out, do certain things that help you get out early legitly, or just wait out your sentence (which depends on how bad your crime was of course). The whole universe is still simulated in the background with each day that passes and you'll lose instantly if the Dominators capture the planet you're being held on.

And another for dying in prison while the town burns in the first attack.

If I remember correctly in Outward if your character falls unconscious in certain fights/places, when you wakes up you are in a mine prison where you have to find a way to escape.

This is true in two ways.

1) mandatory tutorial area has you walk down a corridor and grab a key unlock door. that then transports you to the first town.
2) if you kill enough civilians in first town you will be imprisoned and have to sleep away the time. or if your name is konjad.
