I see your point, this is more a movie than a game.

Yes, you are an idiot.

You are like those motherfuckers who'd rather watch a movie pan and scanned because it fills your tv screen, rather than in the format director decided to film it.
i don´t think many people mind if letterboxing occurs during cutscenes or dialogues (aka "cinematic" moments), it only becomes more of an issue when it´s part of the rest of the gameplay.

I have no idea if it's the case here, but there could be a gameplay reason to use a specific ratio in the game.

If the fucking developers properly designed and directed the game's cutscenes and gameplay around a 16:9 format, then the game is better played in that format, regardless of the format of your specific computer screen.

Some extra space at the top and at the bottom of the picture demands different cutscene direction and different gameplay design? Because you will see a little more of the sky and a little more of the ground?

The difference between 16:9 and 16:10 is minor, but not so when talking about 16:9 compared to 5:4 or 4:3.

So? Explain how the game game designed for lets say 1600: 900 but suck in 1600:1200 what adding those 300 pixels removes from the game?

According to steam the primary play resolution stats:
http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey
1024 x 768 6.45% 4:3
1152 x 864 1.14% 4:3
1280 x 720 0.72% 16:9
1280 x 768 0.67% 15:9
1280 x 800 5.17% 16:10
1280 x 960 1.07% 4:3
1280 x 1024 13.63% 4:3
1360 x 768 1.46% 16:9
1366 x 768 6.17% 16:9
1440 x 900 9.50% 16:10
1600 x 900 3.84% 16:9
1600 x 1200 0.90% 4:3
1680 x 1050 18.02% 16:10
1920 x 1080 19.39% 16:9
1920 x 1200 7.36% 16:10
Other 4.48%

It seems that a lot of people still uses 5:4 and 4:3 as well 16:10.
Almost 10% using 1440 x 900? Is that some sort of shitty laptop resolution?

No. It's a 19" wide monitor.

indeed, always thought that my favourite resolution was 4:3. also, i would not like to switch to a 16:9 one, it just does not look good to me.
Besides they are also the best to play old games.

'hd' , '1080p' and 16:9 are consolefags and are responsible for the decline

So I haven't been paying much attention to TW2. Can you play the game zoomed out point 'n' click like TW1 or are you stuck with OTS with WASD key control?

Whether this game has been designed "with consoles in mind" or not, I got to tip my hat to CD Projekt for actually making a game that doesn't look like it was held back graphically because of consoles.

I don't think it's there anymore. The top-down view in The Witcher 1 was reminescent of the Bioware's Aurora engine.

Hollywoodfags mostly, conspiring with jews trying to cut down on production costs to make an extra buck. Squashed screens look OK for large movie theaters but its absolutely atrocious for any kind of smaller screen.

OTS. Only during fights camera moves back a little. I don't know if point 'n' click would work with the new combat system.

Fuck it. I won't be playing it. Zoomed out point and click is the only kind of RT I can deal with.

Except that Hollywood movies mainly use 2.35:1(21.15:9) aspect ratio, unlike HDTVs. I have no idea where did this stupid drivel (16:9 is optimal for ur immeshun, trust us!!!) come from.

Anyway, anamorphic 16:9 is plainly retarded, even pure console ports do better these days.

I have no idea what the fuck is going on in this thread.
Witchers, consoles, pcs, sd, hd, jews, weird numbers, percents, aspect ratios and fuuu faces.

Fuck you all.
