Anito Q&Aed over at RPG Vault

For those looking forward to Anito, the CRPG in development by Anino Entertainment, you can check out this interview over at RPG Vault. Here's a funtabulous clip:

Jonric: How would you introduce Anito in overview? What type of game is it, what genres and titles have influenced its design, and what types of gameplay experience you are incorporating into it?

Niel Dagondon:
Anito is a hybrid RPG / adventure game.

Gabby Dizon: Anito combines elements from adventure games, such as Longest Journey, and RPGs such as Planescape: Torment. On the adventure side, we have gameplay features such as puzzles and interactive items in the game world. Some items can also be combined with each other to produce interesting new items, which might be needed by the player to solve quests. Unlike adventure games though, we do have a feature to highlight which objects in the world you can interact with - we don't want the player to go "hunt for the clickable item" which is a common pitfall in adventure games.

On the role-playing side, we have a deep story with an involving main quest and many non-linear sub-quests, an upgradeable skill system, which is the equivalent of spells in other RPGs, and character progression in the form of stat ups, which can be used to increase the primary attributes of Strength, Agility, Health and Energy. There will be no permanent party members in the game, but you may, at certain points, have henchmen to help you fight the bad guys.

Combining adventure games and CRPGs is a lot like combining ice and water.
