GameSpy has an interview with Pete Hines about Pirates of the Carribean, that open ended piracy on the high seas CRPG loosely based on the Disney flick. Here's some encouraging stuff:

GameSpy: How does the game tie into the movie? Is it a standalone story, a complement to the movie, or a sort of interactive version of the movie?

Pete Hines:
The story in the game is completely separate from the movie. We didn't intend to mimic the story from the movie at all, and the movie studio and Disney Interactive were fine with that. The game takes place around the same place and time as the film, and there is a bit of crossover between things you'll see in the game storyline and things you'll see in the movie storyline, but again, the stories are completely separate.

Okay, this is actually really good news. Hopefully this will still be something as good as Sea Dogs 2 looked, despite the Disney licensing.
