Bioware Creates New Extinct Species

Yes, you read that correctly. Bioware has actually done something outside the norm and injected a new species into the Star Wars universe, which they call the Rakata species, which are supposed to be extinct at the time KOTOR takes place.

According to the write-up at AVault: The Rakata were a widespread civilization that disappeared ten thousand years before the emergence of the Republic and left behind very little information about their culture. Archaeologists have pieced together what little evidence remains.

To sum it up, you're probably going to find ounces upon gallons of ph4t l3wt in the Rakata ruins. Read the whole thing here if you're interested. There's even some pretty pictures of live members of the supposedly long dead Rakata. Chances are you're going to have to fight some of them.
