Bethesda hasn't made a RPG since Morrowind, CDPR since Witcher 1

People on RPGCodex don't know what RPG is and we are surprised with the decline. :|
OK but to be fair if your marker for decline is wether some simplistic single character action games have a dodge stat or a dodge button then you're already drowing inside the decline.

This is the central point many people, embarrassingly a lot of them even here on the codex, don't understand. You can't have action game that have dodge stat and dodge button as a general rule. The moment your core mechanics rely on twitch skill it's action game and you no longer role play anything (you may larp all you want though).

Yes but it's like you're saying : "Remember when RPGs were RPGs? You know, Witcher 1", like it's a Star Trail clone or something.

Antharion would be a good example of a recent bad RPG I liked only because it has many features reminiscent of classic RPGs like party creation, a decent stat system and turn-based combat and a focus on the story I make myself (exploring caves, killing monsters and such). Witcher does not have even one of these things, it's about as far as possible from what I'm looking for in RPGs and so it's part of the decline to me, that the combat is not twitchy is almost a detail.

Let me summarize you the thread-
OP- I want to troll codex with shitposting, let me post that bethesda and cdpr are the only rpg devs left
me- bethesda is not making rpgs since es3 and polaks since w1
you- lol w1 is garbage i like this rpg

I agree, my preferred RPGs are also turn-based full party creation ones, but inability to recognize what makes a game RPG is pretty big decline in my eyes.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
They can always demaster their games.

"Introducing Baldur's Gate Classic, coming Spring 2019 at the low cost of $49.99 or $69.99 for the Explorer's Edition that includes the 'Tales of the Sword Coast' DLC."
Reminds me of how the original Jagged Alliance 2 is being sold as DLC to the standalone mod Wildfire on Steam as "Jagged Alliance 2 Classic".
