Naah, man, Final Fantasy didn't invent Eidolons, it's greek!.. Well, on the internet, the truth is whatever most people believe is true, of course.

I really like what I see so far, the art style and the audio sections are fantastic. As someone already mentioned, the art style reminds of Disciples, which is a major plus as far as I'm concerned. In the general description there is a mention about a KS campaign. Are you still planning to initiate a KS campaign? Any ETA for the final version of the game?

Hey Aemar, thanks for the praise, yes Disciples is a game I still hold as a golden standard as far as aesthetics are concerned :)
I think I will have no other choice eventually but to either give up or make a KS, I'm running out of money and the game still needs so much in terms of assets... well, no much by the AAA standards, I've learned to do things really economically, getting the raw material from freelancers and mixing it up until it fits.
I'm wary about giving ETA's these days, but if all goes as planned, I think it is safe to say that Eidolons will hit Steam in May 2019 as an EA game, then take a few more months to get out of it. However, there will be many solid interim version on Itch, probably free of charge if KS doesn't fail too bad.

How much are you shooting for in the campaign? You have my money.

Are some of the assets used in the current version placeholder material until you manage to come up with the final artwork? I'm asking this because I noticed the unit card for the Vampire is taken from Disciples 2.

Hey Safav, glad to have your support! :)
To be fair, I need at least $8000, just to finish up what has been started (without any new additions). I've been postponing it 'cause I had hoped I would have time to finish a lore-book I was writing so I could offer it as one of rewards, but now the development takes up all of my time. Of course there are also a lot of ways that people could make creative contributions to the game design or game content, but I am not sure if it is fair to offer that is a reward...
And yes, the game still uses some placeholders, alas... But then, that's why I need that KS campaign at some point :)

Thanks, I actually feel more confident now, and that’s really the only barrier I guess :) Well, and a shitload of effort involved of course =)
Do you think it could work with patreon for such a project btw? There's a lot of art/music creation involved after all, on top of all coding/design. It’s a pretty long-term thing, it would really solve a lot of problems if I had a modest but steady income that didn’t require me to spend a lot of time away from development

Patreon nowadays seems to have a stigma for being used mainly for porn game development. That said I don't think it would be a disaster but you might get better publicity if you tried a crowdfunding campaign first. Don't take my word for it though.

You should try kickstarter first, and only go to Patreon if it fails.

I'd also suggest releasing into early access, which could help fund additional development.

Hey guys, I'm still alive, making some presentation materials and I even opened a patreon page hoping naively to gather some brave souls to fight the demons of the dark.
Itch page has been completely redesigned and I'm refining a core concept (about how exactly roguelike meets openworld) that you can read about in the itch devlog
