It certainly looks pretty good though I think the vegetation needs to be much wilder and more rampant for it to look more post-apocalyptic. I think it looks a little too...'tamed' for my liking.

It's just way too cartoony, man. I'm expecting Bugs Bunny to pop up out of a rabbit hole and go "Whats up doc?" any minute. Maybe he's hiding in those bushes, and the guy on the cargo crate is Elmer Fudd?

Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd?

Romanceable rabbits are sure to be included (the non radiated variety).
No, seriously you're kidding, right?

Maybe it is tamed. A civilized region of the game world?

Breaking news! Wasteland 2: Wabbits survive holocaust, sexuallly deranged and procreating rampantly!

i certaintly do not find it cartoony..consider their KS pic, then the Amsterdam camera showcasing video, then this pic.. progressively moving towards crispier/more complex and realistic a look. As far as the grass is concerned, i fear it may be there so that no one gets to complain about all 'areas' being alike/uniform/monotonous.

Placeholder graphics ftw! Seriously, if InXile wants to hype their game all they need is to release bunch of awesome above HD quality concept arts like they did during Kickstarter. That will keep everyone happy, let fanboys drool, let haters rage and keep the interest up. Personally, I would love to hear another piece of music.

I predict massive butthurt when this game is released and people realize what it means to prioritize gameplay over graphics in a low budget title.

It wouldn't be the first time the Codex regrets getting what it wished for. See: Age of Decadence.

In b4 looks like shit. DAMN IT NEVER WORKS.

Actually I am disappointed they didn't stick to their guns and use real color. You know green trees and stuff like that. The orangey shot was a little off but it looks like this is going to be another one where they use terrible filtering, the lazy way that hides flaws, instead of working to make a good palette. And yet people still complain it looks cartoony! But maybe that's due to some of the postprocessing making things look more plasticy/shiny/whatever than they could. To me it just looks too drab and generic, but it isn't bad at all just not breathtakingly good.

I think you might be trolling.

Well, then you are an incredible dumbfuck. A guy who's here to soft sell his game as he comments on rpg news and using his real name as his handle would never troll in a million years, you clown.

Wow, you really are so full of lameness you can't even imagine why someone could not be lame. Try to step into other people's shoes just a little bit instead of taking the majority opinion and assuming anyone who doesn't conform to it is a terrorist.

It does seem like boyrdee is trolling, or maybe his kick starter success has caused him to chaos dunk into full retard. :troll:

Possibly, but in that case it'd be nice to get a screenshot of landscape that has been ravaged by the war. Obviously I'm not expecting AAA graphics, but the concept art of destroyed the cities covered in overgrown wilderness has looked pretty darn amazing and I'd like to see that translate into the game.

I don't get all the bitching. ITT people are either tripping over their edginess or they actually consider that the screenshot is bad, which is even worse, and baffling, than sad, unrestrained edginess. I think that what the screenshot shows is great. I love the realistic scale of the characters and buildings, I like the look (overgrown instead of the classic desert wasteland post-apocalyptic look) and I do hope that the camera would be as adjustable as possible (I prefer fully adjustable cameras, like in AoD and NWN, to fixed cameras). I actually hope that there will be some option/patch/mod to fully unlock the camera, after the game is released. Finally, if you want tho bitch about textures and shit like that, be warned that I don't care about textures in any type of game, not just in Wasteland 2.

Infinitron: I know of its budget..was under the impression that it having been reached and exceeded in KS (along with whatever other funds i may not know about from BF's side) would have been more than enough..gah, so much money and still considered low budget.. :s

$3mil is low budget because big budget means in the order of $100s of millions. If you are thinking of low budget as in the $10s or $100s of thousands, you're wrong. $10s of thousands qualifies for no budget/shoestring budget/doing it on your own dime in your spare time and needing to top off your other income sources. $100s of thousands barely start to resemble a budget. (I'm talking about game development here, and, in particular, development of games with high enough production values that they have any chance of becoming successful, not for other types of projects). For example, Johnatan Blow, the guy behind Braid, put in $200k of his own money to create Braid ( http://web.archive.org/web/20081226...ublic/article_print/SB121814539048522033.html and http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/90505-Braid-Cost-200-000-To-Make via http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Braid_(video_game)#Development ). If you would carefully add up all the expenses, you would end up with a total price tag in the $100s of thousands for most, if not all, successful indie titles. And these are truly indie titles. When you have a development studio that has employees that need their money now and don't work on the promise of financial rewards further down the line when (and more importantly, IF) the game becomes successful, then even $100s of thousands may become insufficient and a few millions become the absolute minimum.

I like it. It is much better than first screenshot and actually has something green in it that isn't stereotypical radioactive/toxic fluid.

I struggled to find the word that best described my opinion of the screenshot.

Generic.

doesnt matter anyways because the chanc eof the end game looking like that is virtually nil. Most likely its all placeholder shit while they work on the engine (and possibly mechanics)

Pretty detailed for a placeholder.

How so. its most likely just shit off of the unity asset store. Its not like there isnt an abundance of shitty models out there to use as a placeholder. It would also explain the generic ass look.

Of course there is always the slight possibility that this is actual footage thats meant to be int he game.. in which case:

Also possible that its something they release as a 'leak'. Then look at peoples opinions in order to change it accordingly. Maybe thats why this doesnt look as insanely cartoony as the last pic. If this is the case then: ineXile your game looks like generic boring shit

I have a gut feeling it will be more than just graphics...
In any case, it's gonna be fun to watch it happen.

So the first screenshot was to colorful and cartoony, while this one is too realistic and bland. I can see why game developers can get tired of communicating with the fans. :D

Seriously, exactly what are people expecting from a single screenshot? A brilliant work of art that captures the essence of the post apocalyptic genre in a single image? Sometimes a decaying building is just a decaying building, that doesn't represent anything more than a place to store stuff and take shelter from the environment.
