  1. Oblivion wasn't dumbed down for consoles sez Desslock

It's not dumbed down for console, it's just dumbed down. Dumb people make a large percentage of the gaming community, so it's only logical to dumb down games as well. Companies don’t want to make dumb people (their consumer base) feel inferior or stupid, because then they might not buy their...
  2. For my Cousin I Weep...

Some people like rpgs, some people don’t. You can’t convince everyone to like what you like, it doesn’t work that way. Trust me, it’s definitely not a blessing. You dream up a deep and imaginative story only to find yourself depress. Why isn’t my life that exciting? :(

I’m guessing that the Big Font option was very popular, or why else would they make Oblivion’s font so huge?

For the most part you’re right, difficult quest does nothing to balance the game. If it’s impossible to complete, then it might discourage some from trying at all. If the person manages to complete it, balancing shouldn’t be an issue since they've earned it. Bungie, being a company...
  5. 101 ways to rule the world with Alchemy!

Well at least tell the player they’ve killed someone important to quest-line. Let them decide for themselves if they still want to kill him/her. (like what Morrowind did)
  6. hello!!!

How would one get this game when it comes out? I’m not the type who likes or trust paying money over the internet (I avoid it if I can) whether it is EBay, Amazon, Publisher, etc. I prefer to deal with people, so I buy most my games through retail outlets. I don’t really see a wide selection...

No wonder you guys don’t like them. Don’t let the ignorant members discourage you. If you hang around long enough, you’ll realise that there are people there willing to listen to you if you have a concrete argument backed up by evidences. People like Arwen, Zero, Dorian_ertymexx, the vrrc...
  8. hello!!!

What’s wrong with a little romance? A little flirting, admiring, etc can go a long way to adding realism. The player doesn’t need to have relationship, but perhaps romance could be another way to make people to help you and give you information.
  9. I was thinking........

Sounds like a good idea, but how it will turn out remains to be seen. Link AoD :D

What’s with all this bashing? They may be ignorant, but then so is eighty percent of the Earth’s population (which you and I are probable included in). If you have something to say, then join up and fight the good fight. If you think you’re so enlighten then educate them.
  11. Why do people play MMORPG

There might be some truth to that, but my fist rpg was Morrowind (yea, w/e I’m a newb) and some people don’t even consider that an rpg. If I'm truly looking at the “bottom of the barrel” then I have no where to go but up.
  12. I was thinking........

If I can, I normally start with a Jack of all trades to test out a set of main skills and/or any other (Train all skills to be decent enough to judge). Then create a character with sets of skills I liked. If not, like lumpy said, just create different characters for different roles.
  13. Oblivion gets better with time OR Gamespies are dumbshits

Another thing. They should have just stuck with text. Make room for other more important things like actually having choices, branching dialogue, etc. This is the basic npc to npc conversation. Beggar: I ran across a Mudcrab the other day, nasty creatures. Guard: I'm done talking to you...
