It's honestly not a big deal if some slurs are censored as long as you can still express your politically incorrect opinions. If I say "I don't want to see any urban americans in my medieval Europe simulator" it has almost the same impact regardless if I use words like nigge.r, n-word or jogger. Most normies couldn't tolerate reading such opinions so there's little chance just this change would turn us into retardera. Entertainment media has become extremely political and it's worth making some compromises so we can continue pointing out these things.

Lady Error and The Brazilian Slaughter both make a good point.

Can people outside Australia make use of Australian defamation laws to potentially get the Codex into trouble?

If the answer is no, then the obvious answer would be to just block all Australian IPs.

This really seems like something an Aus lawyer should be consulted upon.

Hell have a fundraiser to raise the cost of legal advice if cost is the prohibitive factor. I can't imagine a lawyer would charge that much purely for advice/information.
That's only half of the problem.
DU will be held responsible for content on his platform because Australia effectively has strict intermediary liability. This was made worse in 2019 when Australia rammed through a bill in response to the Christchurch shooting(I really mean they rammed it through -- it was submitted on April 4th and made law on April 5th.) Additional laws and court cases have only worsened the situation since. The most recent ruling bordering on insanity, making publishers liable not only for content shared on their website, but merely for comments posted by other users on social media platforms they don't even own.
On September 8, 2021, the High Court of Australia (the highest court in Australia’s court hierarchy) dismissed an appeal by three large media outlets against a decision of the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of New South Wales concerning whether, “by posting content relating to news stories about Mr Voller, the respondent, on their respective Facebook pages, the appellants were liable for the publication of allegedly defamatory ‘comments’ that were posted by third-party Facebook users in response to the content.”
A publisher’s liability does not depend upon their knowledge of the defamatory matter which is being communicated or their intention to communicate it.
It could be interpreted such that DU could be held liable for replies to RPGCodex's twitter account.

To contrast, USA has strict intermediary liability only for copyrighted material that is not taken down after a DMCA within the appropriate time period, which is why it sucks for hosting copyrighted content unless you have Google money/power. Section 230 of the communications decency act otherwise provides broad immunity.
No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider
It's hard to understate just how important that one line is. I'm not aware of any other country that provides such a broad immunity(I'm sure there is at least one.)

If, for example, Twitter were operated out of Australia then alternative universe Australian Chris Avellone could in fact be suing Twitter for defamation.

This combined with the lack of laws regulating speech are why most of your online platforms end up in USA. Australia, as of right now, has neither pieces of the puzzle and is not somewhere I'd personally operate an online platform from.

Basically, DU is a target simply by owning this website. The legality is very gray since it is in fact hosted in USA already... but why would he chance it? He already said(and I don't blame him) that he's not going to take a bullet for us.

The times when you could get around angering leftoids by censoring yourself are long over. If it isn't an outright slur it must be a "dog whistle".

The fact that there's a Pepe button is actually enough to signal to the Twitterati that this is a secret nazi website.

If DarkUnderlord blocks all Australian IPs, then how will he be able to access his own site?

:philosoraptor:
By becoming a citizen of the free world....aka Chinaman.

China does have censor law and procedure in force, though.

I speak, not generally, but specifically. I know for a fact the amateur novels on Net, written and read by Chinese, are censor. I quite frequently find chapters get 404, or rewritten, and whole novels might be blocked officially and commercially (there's unofficial access thanks to horde of copypasta collection sites).

The rules on what and who get censored can be quite obscured, according to "victims".

So forums are definitely targets of censor laws~

Children and Grandchildren of ''communists'' who betrayed Eastern Block, Socialism and USSR
Go to hell, communist cunt. You betrayed Holy Orthodoxy first. No decent and sane person in Eastern Europe (or anywhere for that matter) has any obligation to demons like (((marx))), (((lenin))), shitlin and the rest of their hellbound ilk. Don't worry, you will join your defeated demon-masters in hell soon enough.

Behold the holy icon of Saint Nicholai II, Tsar and Imperator of All-Russia, martyred by satanic bolshevik scum for his faith. By the power of Allmighty Christ, your demonic lies are dissolved and sent back to hell from whence they came.

Vade retro, satana.
This is a pretty good point, to be fair.
This is the first time ever that I fully agreed with Liberal.

I hope this will never happen again

Same as Russia which is very sensitive on every speech that can be seen as inflaming the religious and ethnic conflict so half of GD would need to go... we could criticize the trannies and homos in game there though.
RPG KKKodex in Russia will be fine for everyone - except Russian posters.
As per Russian law, if your site hosts some unlawful or extremist information, RKN asks you kindly to delete it. If you don't comply, your site is blocked. Blocking only works for Russian IPs so anyone else wouldn't even notice it and Russian IPs can visit it through VPN.

For Russian posters, Russian hate-speech laws start to work but it is very unlikely since RKN doesn't give a fuck about English segment of internet

DU will be held responsible for content on his platform because Australia effectively has strict intermediary liability.

The question is: If the content is not accessible in Australia, can he be held responsible for anything in Australia? Australia only cares about the "harm" done inside its borders.

The answer to the question doesn't actually matter. DU most likely has no interest in playing footsie with an overzealous police state.

I'm sorry, but what kind of police are we even talking about? Aren't the armed forces in Australia made up of cute weird animals? What are they going to do to him? Cuddle him to death? Drool all over his homework?

If blocking Australian IP's provides legal protection, I don't see why he shouldn't do it. The question is if it actually helps or not. Only some Australian lawyer can tell him that, unless someone can find precedent cases in Australia where IP blocking was applied.

Quick question:
Exactly how much risk would you be willing to take with a government that locks its own citizens inside their homes and grants them the privilege of leaving for 1 whole hour of recreation a day?

Their laws regarding this are broad and draconian, they're very open to interpretation. You know what pisses off a powertripping government? Attempting to skirt authority.

I love the product placement ad's they have on that gab link. "Dissident Body Wash" and "Protest Baby Carriers"

Keep refreshing the page if you want to be amused by the (((system))) trying to monetize "racists"

It seems to be a similar situation here on the codex. The admins here want to monetize the user base, but they don't particularly like the user base.

Gab needs to earn some revenue to survive. Unlike the Codex, their admins have already been through hell to preserve their userbase and free-speech website, and are adamant that this is the hill to die on.

Also, I bought the "Crusader Body Wash" and it's awesome. I've always wanted to smell like a crusader knight.

This is the same kind of argument as "they will probably make the vaxx mandatory, so I better cuck out now and get it."

Australia still has laws. What he needs is to find a way to not go against those laws, whether with IP blocking or something else. If new laws come out, then he will need to reassess.
