Hey hey peeople look who's back that's me reporting in to tell you things and do some replies
Time since we finalized the Kickstarter was used well, we got many backer pics for portraits, and let me tell you no artist would've imagined such a cast for the main character photo, we have so many different faces! Artists are hard at work painting them as we speak. I've been putting the programming skills I got over the summer to help out with a bit more than just writing, and let me tell you it's pretty fun. I'd say it's more fun than writing, because what you write in code actually becomes tangible stuff in the game.
I'm working with this huge nested network of small scripts that will help me set up really cool, diverse random encounters like no other game from atom team has ever seen. Tons of possible formations, names, behaviors; weapons, skills, special attacks, levels, everything can be fine tuned with a click and a few keywords right now. No level scaling, but greater control over the world map, so you won't stumble on someone unkillable until you're really deep into the continent. (Though there is always a chance, albeit small, to meet someone who's way tougher) many loot-related surprises, nasty shit to mess with obsessive people like the secret 1 in 100.000.000 chance to get one of the best weapons in the game from the easiest\earliest random encounter in the game through loot. Works like a charm according to the tests I constantly do. Love it.
The others are hard at work as well. Only thing slowing us down is also cool: we're releasing new Trudograd ports soon, and that takes a few hours away from Swordhaven development, but that's not an issue at all, and once we're done someone will be able to play that thing on their fridge which is pretty swell. Stay tuned for that.
Also wrote 11 pages of JUST rumors during the weekend.
Now for some replies including the ones I missed in all the excitement before.
We received a probable answer to this question yesterday. We posted about the Kickstarter on our Trudograd page on Steam, and most comments were "holy shit, you guys had a kickstarter all this time??? whaaaat???". We turned out to be ass at marketing to our own players, let alone strangers. So seriously, without the codex we probably wouldn't get a single stretch goal!
Congratulations and find someone to actually do marketing.
I hope we will and thank you!
Are you aware that Grape Ocean received €108,837 for Black Geyser, more than twice the amount you just got. Then they came back and raised another €31,561 for the DLC. I would be interested to know why you didn't get a stronger support from backers than what you got. I'm very happy that this campaign was a success, of course, but gathering 100k would probably have been possible.

Hopefully you can count on that cash once you enter early access. That's good to know!
We will, but finding a great animator even WITH the Kickstarter moneys proved to be a huge chore. It's behind us now tho
Congratulations
Atomboy. God speed and good luck.
Thank you!
Is there a list of Soviet pop culture references in Atom RPG? I'd love to learn about the origins of the Easter eggs and jokes.
The closest thing to that list was made in the review by a codex user called Batallie a few years ago. They pointed out the biggest ones, anyway. Some are so small and cryptic explaining them would actually make them less cohesive like that one meeting with an armed crazy person based on a Soviet-American New Yorker who made his money by pretending to be ex KGB and selling government secrets about the three-step Degenerate program with it's goal to battle the antichrist when the time comes.
When the stars are right? We going cosmic horror now boys?
Anyway nice stretch goal. (New location/dungeon/quest) I hope they can make it. Only 5 days left of the kickstarter though.
We always did!
We made it
Those portraits are retarded-take references to 60-70 Soviet era pop culture. Another aspect these devs couldn’t grasp about Fallout — it referenced uplifting 60s pop culture to contrast it with the grim reality.
Nuh uh those portraits were based on free stock images of american prison ladies taken into the slammer for prostitution, our backers, and our team members! Only NPC portraits (around 10% of them) were based on some recognizable USSR ppl! Y u so mean! You recognized Yakubovich on 1 portrait and decided that's as deep as the game goes? Play it for real! It's very cool!
Will the game support custom portraits on launch? No one I knew liked the ones that shipped with ATOM
It's already there.

is that a Twin Peaks reference?
I got what you mean, but it actually wasn't! It's bizarre though. Nostra is our second time we're having a tough one-eyed lady in one of our games... And we never connected the dots, despite being huge fans of TP. That's pretty cool!
HOW ABOUT SOMEONE HELPS OUR FRIENDS FROM ATOM TEAM IN LAST HOURS OF THEIR KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN?
I know game won't feature bears pole dancing nor 666 genders to choose from, but maybe main page post or two would help in spreading good word about Makers of Good RPGs making their new game?
Infinitron Saint_Proverbius
Dang, it's like pages and pages of you selflessly helping us out. Are we that cool? Thank you dude! You really managed to influence this whole campaign for real, somehow! If they teach me modelling as well as coding, I'll think of you whenever I place a wall somewhere.
