Though I guess that wouldn't preclude Smith wanting to redesign it again, if that were the case.
that's what I'm saying, he intended for a third revision. Warren said no because Eidos were already pissed at the delays as is and he knew the system met their needs. Its in part also why Warren to this day mentioned they never tested if it was possible to beat the game without using Augs and Skills - turned out that it was indeed possible, because they were already behind in getting the game out so they didn't have time to fully test skills, which I suspect is also why Swimming is so bad.

Right, got it now. Well, that settles it - the real genius behind Deus Ex wasn't Spector, it wasn't Smith either, it was an Eidos accountant! :-D

not if you look at those financial books I posted earlier in the thread where I proved that Deus Ex barely made a dent in Eidos' hemorrhaging. Deus Ex is just one of those fluke success stories. It was lucky to get made at all, had it not been for Romero saying "Go make what ever game you want" to Warren it wouldn't have happened - that's the only reason Eidos tolerated it because of the sinked cost, same thing happened with Anarchronox as well, which is why it too also got gutted. Ion Storm was just everyone passion projects being driven by Romero IOUs lol. So really its Romero being a conman we have to thank! lol. If it wasn't for him tricking Eidos into bank rolling everything it wouldn't have happened.

I'm just happy that Thief is likely Eidos's new project. They said they have multiple projects in the works but only Thief now remains. Though Guardians of galaxy 2 could be also potential candidate.

Will there ever be a better game than deus ex?
On the surface it defies all reason. Deus Ex didn't exist when they made the original. It should get easier to make games like this once you already have an existing title to use as a blueprint, but nobody has matched it in 25 years.

The Decline was so powerful that we still haven't recovered from it. You can pump a hundred times more people and money into the AAA space and they still can't match games that came out a quarter century ago. The entire industry has to collapse, normies and Big Money have to depart the hobby, before we can eat as well as we did in 2000.

This is copium you know that right?

Blackpilling is the opposite of copium.
