Jensen was cucked at the end of the first game, Rean. I fail to see how he was any better than Geralt, who despite being a cuck in the books iirc, at least had nonstop sex in the games.

End? He spends the whole game trying to win back an ex-girlfriend. Maybe that's why gamers can relate to the character, lol.

Exactly. Meanwhile Denton was pure sigma. He murdered that Chinese woman and threw her bullet-riddled corpse out of her apartment building onto the street in full view of horrified onlookers.

Or at least he did in my game... :M

That's the whole game. She's his ex. She gets disappeared. He looks for her. He finds her and she reveals that she was in on it all along and was using him.

Okay, still don't see the issue here, as to why he is considered a cuck. The attack, his wounds, and her disappearance are all connected. She even gets declared dead in a side-quest, so at that point, he should no longer be looking for her from what I remember.

What is his motivation to look for her if you erase the relationship from before the game starts?

Writing is easily the worst part of both HR and MD, so I'm not particularly interested in an interview with the culprit.

Never quite liked the writing in HR and MD.
Typical japshit masquerading as Deus Ex
I mean you had secret societies, global conspiracies, secret research facilities, even philosophical and social questions and implications.
HR and MD are just bland in comparison, cookie cutter creations.
Racism against mechanically augmented people as a main focus of the story?
Seriously?
Can it get more generic than that?

I love HR, but that's mostly because of the vibe and the fairly well constructed stages, the writing definitely wasn't great.

MD was just shit. The second I found myself ambling around a sunny Prague I knew the devs had lost the plot.

I replayed the nuDXs last year and I found that coming into them with much lower expectations of the story's themes allowed me to draw much more enjoyment from its trappings of a spy thriller. Intrigue is appropriately mysterious and globe-spanning, characters are pleasant enough to interact with, gameplay is fun and playing MD had me concluding it had the best level design in history of video games.

The best thing that could happen to Deus Ex is that a AA developer gets the license. Any AAA developer is going to be weighed down by the generic Human Rights Campaign cooperate liberalism that already prevents game developers from doing anything interesting or even slightly dangerous. But that is not going to happen. Realistically, the IP will remain in limbo and get reconstituted in a few years to make a shitty AAA action game. I could also see them trying to turn it into a show on Amazon Prime, etc.

The Canadians ruined Deus Ex. They had no idea what they were doing with the story. They're too cucked and cowardly to understand that Deus Ex was an antigovernment polemic, demonstrating that democracy simply doesn't work in the face of extreme technological advancement. Deus Ex is probably the most "American" game ever made, which is why they didn't understand it.

Falls flat when compared to the original Deus Ex masterpiece.
I don't call Deus Ex a masterpiece on account that it would imply there weren't bits missing. There clearly are bits missing and should be apparent if you ever got the Stay With Unatco dialogue that's still in the game. The masterpiece was the Deus Ex that could have been, the one that didn't railroad us in Hong Kong, the one with the ending where JC becomes King of Europe, the one where you visited the White House.

There was a much more complex game there with that same choice and consequence we saw in the early portions of the game that were absent throughout the rest of the game (Non-Lethal vs Lethal doesn't matter going into the end of the game, which characters live or die doesn't either) in the original scope for the game not only would these have been intact but would have represented huge innovations in storytelling. Alas they had already blown their budget for the game and Eidos was unwilling to be patient with the team, so we got what we got.

Oh yeah Command Line hacking lol. There's a video of it. I'll embed once I find it.

I think the plan was to make hacking more than just a wait to win system but you can see they eventually just stuck with what they had and didn't develop it any further. Such a shame.

It is still my favorite game, and a big reason is knowing why it released in the state it did. Once you know that you tend to appreciate what we got, you understand why its special and why no games come even close to it since.

It certainly is the most "Alex Jones" game, yeah.
