From what I've read from those guys saying they missed Gygax's entire point is unduly dismissive to the point of condescension and a good bit past it. If anybody's got Gygax's balls in their mouth it's those guys.

I doubt they're unaware of the points Zed has made here they've just got a different take on it. But I could be wrong, which doesn't have much to do with what they've made of what Zed is saying is their misconception, which seems interesting.
