One of the advantages of realising a patch and calling it an "Enhanced Edition" is that you get to have a whole bunch of new reviews made for your game. Here's a round-up of some of the Witcher EE reviews. First up is <a href="http://www.gamingtrend.com/Reviews/review/review.php?ReviewID=1120">GamingTrend</a>:
<br>
<blockquote>So, if you own the previous version of the game, should you jump out of your chair and pick up the Enhanced Edition? The answer is YES! Not only are there a plethora of game improvements in the Enhanced edition but the player also has the opportunity to read an excerpt from The Witcher's first book "Last Wish". I personally have read the book and thoroughly enjoyed it.</blockquote>
<br>
Book excerpts are always fun. <a href="http://www.plaingames.com/games/reviews/review.asp?id=332">Up next is PlainGames</a>:
<br>
<blockquote>When a game is released, we expect it to have its flaws.</blockquote>
<br>
No, we fucking shouldn't expect it to have its flaws. Anyway, there's more fun in this one with:
<br>
<blockquote>One concern with the English version of the game was that there was not enough text to allow the player to get fully immersed into the game.</blockquote>
<br>
Yes, I am not immersed because there is not enough text! Anyway, <a href="http://www.gamerstemple.com/games14/001682/001682r01.asp">third up is GamersTemple</a>:
<br>
<blockquote>Everybody else, buy this game! It's the best, most serious, fun, beautiful RPG I've played in a long time. Its only fault now is really its peculiar trophy approach to sex, a product of a slightly different culture than our own puritanical one. I don't have a problem with lots of sex, just with collecting cards depicting your partners nearly nude. It's bizarre.</blockquote>
<br>
<a href="http://www.armchairempire.com/Reviews/PC%20Games/witcher-enhanced-edition.htm">Fourth is ArmChairEmpire</a>:
<br>
<blockquote>Overall, The Witcher was a game which strived for the peaks of the highest mountains, but only reached the base camp. This is still an accomplishment and the game is certainly good, it just never quite reaches the rarefied air it strove so hard for.</blockquote>
<br>
Finally, we have the <a href="http://computergames.ro/en/games/viewitem/id/3154/name/the-witcher-enhanced-edition/section/review.html">dirty Russians over at ComputerGames.ro</a>:
<br>
<blockquote>On the other hand, despite the improvements brought, the frequency of the CTDs still remains a serious motive for hitting the table and swearing for the lost time since the last save. At the same time, although the game is generally more fluid, the framerate drops are still severe during the scenes populated with many NPC, which shows the technological limits of the Aurora engine related to its scalability against the increased performance of modern PCs.</blockquote>
<br>
No, stop playing it on your dodgy Russian PC you nub. :honourblade:

shouldn't we?
have you ever thought about what a fucking nightmare a world in which all or even most games are flawless would be?

I would like to bring to your attention that there are no "dirty Russians" at computergames.ro. One of the reasons for that is that computergames.ro is a Romanian site. :) (Well, there could be some people of Russian ancestry in the staff. Nevertheless, that's probably not the case so DarkUnderlord will have to either live in shame or commit sepukku now for not doing his background research properly. :P)

Because its common for patches to contain rewritten scripts, rerecorded dialog, and game soundtracks. You should really just give up on this one DU. This is clearly more than a simple patch, but they still gave it away for free to everyone who already has the game, so what is there to get so upset about?

Yeah, I totally expect a game to be perfect when I buy it. If it's not perfect, it fucking sucks and is unplayable until it's patched.

Senile dementia?
Or simply trolling?
:?:
Bitching is an euphemism, in this case. Decline of the codex indeed.

:lol:

DU is right, this is supposed to be the final, final edition after who knows how many patches and it still doesn't work properly. If they know the game is going to need yet another patch why give it a special name which suggests you won't?

They know there are more problems to fix but they do this anyway. That's a fail, and if you guys could think straight for two minutes you'd realize that.

Oh look, the Polish Witcher Fanboi Club™ are trying too hard again with absolutely no counter-arguments what-so-ever to a news post which does little more than quote lines from reviews.

Base camp? For an "Enhanced Edition"?

Any country that's been buttraped by the USSR = Russia. It's a well-known fact which cannot be disputed by your lies of "independence".

Why don't you do a newspost about the upcoming FMF demo, maybe give us a few exclusive previews etc?

The Witcher was a bad RPG, it doesn't need any more coverage.

Nice job ignoring the rest of my two sentence post. Can you name a single patch that contained a rewritten script, rerecorded dialog in multiple languages, and additional character models? Games are released unfinished all the time, and normally the best we can hope for is bug fixes. CDProjekt went back and fixed major content issues and released the fixes for free, even after the game had already been so successful and had been generally well reviewed by the mainstream gaming press. This is the kind of behavior we want to encourage.

Would you have preferred they left the game as it was? How about if they released the game with the new content and did not make it available for free? How can you be mad at them for choosing the third option of a free release of content that included expensive work like voice acting?
