oldmanpaco is working on an as yet Untitled NWN2 Mod and he needs your feedback:

I already have a framework for a story and a general layout of the beginning 1/3 of the module. And while the story is not necessarily lulzy there may be lulzy side quests and characters.

Also all of the characters are going to be from the Codex. Yes you will have the chance to interact with all your favorite on-line personalities.

He wants your help on deciding which general Class the PC should be and whether he should include alignment shifts:

I hate alignment in NWN. You end up either LG or CE. The problem is neutral choices DO NOT MOVE YOU TOWARDS NEUTRAL ALIGNMENT. I have no idea why this mechanic has never been implemented in any game.

That being said I have no real desire to implement an alignment system. I would prefer to keep track of actions as opposed to alignment.

Case in point: I, as a LG char, sent that family to be eaten by those ape things in MotB. I shifted a total of 20 point towards evil but still retained my LG status. I then killed all the apes so no one would know what I did. Still LG.

Honestly what is the point. Actions that are publicly know should effect reactions from people. Alignment is for suckers.

I agree.

Can I please please please be in the game as a pretentious wanker of a courtier that rants in absurdly long walls of text that take off at random tangents to both the topic and the main thrust of his own topic? I'm thiinking one where the guy just keeps reciting cut and pasted articles from the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy online (after explaining in a massive walll of text why it is SO much better than wikipedia) until the player initiates combat and kills him (with the fight itself punctuated by more walls of text, if possible)?

How can you retain your neutrality in the black and white world, where everyone see you doing either good or bad?
D&D alignments were never good.

Alignment has always been confusingly interpreted and reinterpreted in different ways. Some people focus on the visible effects, some people focus on the intent, and others seem to just make it up as they go along.

Me, I prefer this take on alginment:

Wow. Front page news.

In the last week:
1) Promoted at work.
2) Sit down lunch with the company president.
3) Successful presentation around cost cutting delivered to 100+ Mangers, Directors, and Senior Leadership.
4) My own Derek Smart moment.

Everything's turning up Paco.

If you ever ventured into GD I think you'd understand why and by whom that spot is already taken.

Please don't compare the WTE to our beloved cat. At least the latter has enough self-awareness to be entertaining and his posts, while endlessly rambling on, usually have some point to them.

(and the few times I bothered to read all the way through he makes some pretty good points)
