I bought witcher 2 on steam, 8 giga patch at each update, i am not even kidding. Every single update you have to redownload the whole game,at least for this game, enjoy!

Better than SecuRom or Tages. Of course... here's hoping it doesn't contain those above and beyond Steam.
There's no guarantee, considering that the first Risen had no DRM in the boxed retail version, yet over Steam also added TAGES with limited activations for no conceivable reason.

If I were to buy this game, I'd get it on steam when it hits a sale anyway, nothing lost for me.

How does anyone muster the energy to care about this
Well some us like to buy games we like, which tends to preclude both Steam and TPB.

btw is legal at all to be forced to installing and registering to steam? I remember somone was butthurt about preinstaled by default IE and Windows Media Player on M$ OS, and actualy MS was forced to make special editions with dont have certain software (they added N to these versions iirc).

I actualy wanted to buy this game, but now im gona go yo ho ho on it, and buy some rum instead

That was because of the quasi-monopoly M$ has. For many, many things you need a computer. Risen is just a game you want to play, no monopoly of something essential.
If steam ever ends up with a quasi-monopoly and you were a competitor that gets cut out because steam pressures publishers/devs to only sell via them, then you'd have a case (perhaps).

Steam does a good job of keeping the game uncracked until it releases, which is really all publishers can ask for now-a-days. It also offers easy DLC, pre-order bonus and multiplayer support. It's not hard to understand then why publishers love it.

In any case I couldn't care less. I'll buy the game and crack it if I ever need to, whatever. Can anyone really say they are worried about DRM stopping you from playing a PC game?

Lies. I've seen scene releases of games before their release, many times, and have even downloaded some.
