Hm. Bending over backwards not to be a standard Codexian, wanting to play a game based solely on the graphics might be construed as a trifle shallow here (if that is indeed your position; it's difficult to say as most of your posts have been flamewars with other members up to this point). In fact many would call it a damning indictment of your entire attitude towards gaming. Not that graphics are a bad thing of course; but they are neither necessary nor sufficient for a good gaming experience. I suspect most of the vitriol you were originally subjected to on this subject was due to the above reasoning.

Also many people disagree that Oblivion had good graphics. There are many interminable threads discussing this already, but it seems we are destined for yet ANOTHER repeat of this. They will say the following things: too much bloom, aniimations stiff and awkward, faces look like muppets, textures are shit and scale horribly at distance. There, done. For me such a discussion would be ridiculously boring as I'm someone who prefers to discuss mechanics.

It's an RPG. A role-playing game in case it's not clear. Characters never look photo-realistic in RPGs, so let's not make a fuss about it, ok?

I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE. YOU ARE NOT LISTENING TO ANYTHING I SAY!!! I SAID THAT I WAS DISAPPOINTED WITH OBLIVION. DIS-A-FUCKING-POINTED YOU STUPID FUCKING FUCKS!!! DO I HAVE TO EXPLAIN WHAT THIS WORD MEANS TO YOU?

Also many people disagree that Oblivion had good graphics.
oh they do, do they? I posted the picture above for a reason. Look at it and tell me if the graphics there are bad. Not that I expect you to. you, all of you were dishonest from the start. I don't expect you to change and admit that a game you don't like can actually look good.

"Basically, all my life I'd been told you cannot into Codex because you're a BioWare fan. So I guess I just didn't pay any attention. I just went ahead and did what I could and then, when the stars aligned... I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE. YOU ARE NOT LISTENING TO ANYTHING I SAY!!! I SAID THAT I WAS DISAPPOINTED WITH OBLIVION. Yet when you have a screenshot from Oblivion when it looks like shit you make excuses, and no there is plenty of RPG games where faces don't look fucked up.

Also graphics isn't enough to make the game worth exploring, it isn't even the most important reason, so even if the game would look better then Crysis it wouldn't be worth playing.

Oblivion had raisin grannies as all characters and problems with draw distance, that is shit popping up ~20 meters from you unless you tweaked the crap out of it. It's art design is also very boring. But ultimately it's everything about every living thing in the game that made me scratch my head, like eh, is this some kind of amateur project I'm playing?

Making ini tweaks for draw distances don't take much time so it isn't really worth complaining about.

Can't have AAA RPG without LOD special effect, that would be outdated.

Why not? Just because most gtames do character models badly doesn't excuse Oblivion from doing them very badly. Faces especially are probably one of the most important areas for graphics since they're what are most noticably not real, and Oblivion does faces horribly. Also in Oblivion the character models don't just look bad, they're also homogeneous almost any two characters of the same race and gender look indentical which is a big immersion-killler and is annoying from a gameplay perspective as well. Compare this with say Daggerfall where while most of the characters use a a predefined sprite that they share with other characters, these sprites all have distinctive looks and alot of personality built into them. This is one of the reasons why I'd consider Daggerfall, while being based on 2D sprites, to have better graphics than Oblivion.

Lol, seriously? What an utterly absurd overreaction. I seem to remember earlier you moaning about how you were only stating your opinion, blah blah, why are you all so mean etc. It seems somewhat ironic that you would not even begin to attempt to extend the same courtesy to other people, does it not? Interestingly, you assumed from the outset that my post constituted some kind of attack on you. Why so defensive?

Anyway, your reading comprehension seems a little lacking.

If you actually go back and READ my post, you might notice I personally say nothing about Oblivion's graphics. I think they're fine, in fact, because as I explicitly stated graphics are not an important consideration for me! So why ask me why I don't like the graphics? Reading is teh hard?

God I wish I could see her moan. Would love to bend her over and fuck her, but my girl friend would not approve. Bitches like her tend to look very hot.

I actually DO like Oblivion. In fact I stated so IN THIS VERY THREAD. But don't let facts get in the way of your random emotional outbursts!

Nothing says immersion like an ugly cut and paste piece of shit with shallow, simplistic and boring gameplay.

Daggerfall is shit and anyone who thinks it's anywhere other than the bottom of the TES series is an idiot with no taste.

Haha! Graphics = gameplay!

The landscape of Oblivion looked okay. It's the character models that were horrendous. The shape, the movement, the textures. Horrible.

They do look good in Skyrim as far as I can tell. It'll still be a shallow, silly, boring game, though. Just like Oblivion.

Morrowind on the other hand was lots of fun. It's funny how as the series progresses it removes more and more of what I like in a game.

I'm going to be one pissed off old man.

This thread started pretty boring, took a little toe dip into lulzy, went back to boring, and has now shot into stratospheric entertainment.

Thank you Melissan.
