If you go the Steam route, please make it available to Steam users in Europe.

Seems like a good idea by the publisher acctualy.

You have a game with some hype that is already late in development, so makeing the game doesn't cost you money. If Steam is used, there is no cost on actual publishing (What is valves model for hosting games on steam anyways?).

If your lucky, you make a decent profit.
If your not... you lose... next to nothing.

I'd be tempted to go with steam.

Publishers are sharks.

You could end up OWING them money.

Knowing that VD liked the terrible piece of shit that is Fallout3's gameplay and looking at the horrible visual design (not graphics/not amount of polys but how they place... you know... objects) I have big doubts about AoD being a good game. You make games according to your standards and VD's ones appear to be low right now.

I agree , all I need to know in order to make up my mind about the quality of a game is the developer's reaction to FO3 and how they place objects.

No it's about the mentality - I didn't say VD was going around saying that F3 is a bestest RPG ever yet he was defending F3's gameplay. Considering that F3 gameplay is a basic shooter with poor AI and useless stats it makes me wonder what standards will VD apply to AoD.
Also visual design is an important part of the game's atmosphere. F1 & 2 + Arcanum f.e. have very dated graphics yet they still look awesome and retain the very same atmosphere. While I find AoD's world to be very poorly represented.

I also liked Half-Life, Diablo, and Starcraft. What does that have to do with AoD?

Anyway, I wasn't defending Fallout 3 gameplay. I merely explained what my position is and argued with people who disagreed aggressively. Also, may I ask you what "horrible visual design" you are talking about? Care to be more specific?

Edit: Thanks for the encouragement, folks. Regardless of any deal made with publishers, the game will be sold through our own site and we would be able to ship a limited edition copy produced with love, care, color manual and map anywhere in the world (although we may charge a bit extra for the postage).

a) Colours. Everything is simply brown and thus dull.
b) Lack of small details. Locations look ridiculously empty - the fort outdoors, castle(?) indoors and that dungeon from more or less recent screenshots are too empty and I'm sure Torque is capable of a bit more than that.
F.e. with fort it would've been good to add more late autumn trees (like the ones in HL2/diablo3) with orange leaves here and there, some buckets lying near the fence, a broken wheel etc. Right now the fort looks like it is just the brown fence in the empty field. Game simply needs better visual design to make the world look more "used"/alive.

That's good news, I'd rather buy the game from you directly. In any event it's nice to see AoD is getting more and more recognition.

So how about showing me where I've said that AoD will be shit?

Do you spam that much, that you don't even remember what you posted?
