The game really isn't that hard, though. I've been handling the combat fine. Your average spiderweb game on torment difficulty is way harder (although, also way more tedious, what with the hitpoint bloat). Combat in AoD is easy provided you just stick to your core skills. I suspect the reviewers saying it's hard are creating weird hybrid builds.

Someone here definitely needs to do a VD style review with quotes from here made by him throughout the development process. They're all in here.

Currently 85% on Steam.

Also it was the first result when I punched in 'Age' in the search bar. That counts for something! (Like how the corporations are logging my spending and porn gaming habits.)

It has to be handed to lead designer Vince D. Weller for writing such a well thought out, complex universe. The amount of detail that has gone into fleshing out the cities’ whole history with their own lore and interwoven backstories is astounding; the sheer length of the numerous paragraphs are enough to rival the depth of George R.R. Martin’s work.

Better get writing then. But please finish it before HBO picks it up.

Wow his this over scored or what? Its yet another infinity engine throwback game but lets get real, it is a lite version of the old games and is not nearly as good. They try to make this game unique by making it restrictive (and calling that hard... it isnt) but that is not enough for me to make it enjoyable. It is missing the fun factor.

Same author about Wasteland 2:

How the heck did this get over a 5 userscore? I guess not enough people played it. Here is the deal, it was/is advertised as a old infinity engine game but the truth is it stinks. Can you image a game that comes out today and has worse graphics than games released in the 90s? Yes, this is that game. It looks worse than the game its is trying to emulate FROM THE 90's lol. On top of that, it has more bugs than an abandoned mattress on a sidewalk. The game is buggy and it really does detract from the gameplay. There is also a problem with the pacing. It is too slow. Too many fetch quests and too much loading and loading takes way too long. Enemies can shoot through walls, characters feel like a jrpg... i just dont get it. This is not Fallout/PS:T/BG clon

6/10 despite the positive tone because it's not a AAA game.

The Age of Decadence does a lot right. The well crafted world, brought to life through excellent character dialogue and general writing, alongside the good use of choices to define your experience, prove a good lesson for even the more established role playing games on the market. The developers clearly spent a lot of time considering this approach. These quality aspects of the game would be most welcomed in the likes of the Elder Scrolls series, whose own implementation often comes across as immaterial and frivolous. However, the Age of Decadence can not stand shoulder-to-shoulder with its AAA brethren, whose visual style and quality completely outshine this RPG and prove to provide a more well rounded experience. If you enjoy a very traditional RPG that encourages you take things at a much slower pace, then this game is for you. However, if you want more action, stay well away.

BTW Vince i am 99% sure you will get huge positive review from next CD-Action magazine in Poland That is biggest game magazine in Poland (about 300k readers on average) and that mag is mainly about PC games.

hint: you should think about potato version and probably nazi version french don't give a fuck about rpgs. Community driven translation should be doable like in case of russian one.

Maybe but I'm pretty sure they won't let the reviewer write more than 1-page review. I've tried to advertise this game on CD-Action forum but they wouldn't even let me to make a thread about it (reason: not many people will want to discuss in it).

from what i know forum and magazine are entirely separate things. And they did 1 page test of early access with v.v. good impressions.

I mean they could produce 2 pages of preview on Pathologic....

I know, I was the one who posted the scan of that page on Codex but a lot has changed since then. They didn't even mention that AoD got released in their news, I've checked the magazine myself. They spam about every Fallout 4 news though.

Seriously i didn't know AoD will release soon since i didn't follow EE updates... I thought it didn't have release date at all yet and they targeted just end of year or early 2016

Didn't they announce release something like month before release ?

Speaking of cd 'If you think "Fallout 3 is not Fallout anymore", remember the conversation with NPCs in the previous games, which were always presented face-to-face. I dare say that only because of technical limitations Fallout didn't use FPP from the beginning. There is no better way of quickly identifying with the character you roleplay than looking through their eyes, from their perspective... ' action

Also, even such mainstream sites such as GOL have made the announcement about AoD premiere(...)

it would be much better if they didn't made that announcement...
Now anybody who will go to gol will think that AoD is shit...

4players.de gives 80/100. The positives are clear, the negatives are here:

- outdated backdrops
- very weak animations
- inconsistent collision detection in battles
- not enough interaction in buildings
- no active overworld travel or building exploration (mentioning a lack of random events and pickable/breakable doors, and a paucity of interactive objects)
- no German text
