a) This is like that thing those posters here keep talking about regarding why it's silly to expect an unarmed character to be the equal of enemies with guns
b) If you have trouble, reload your last hub save, go to another hub, and level up some more.

Every boss in the game (except the optional Sie fight and Darcy) can be button mashed to death with maxed out martial arts. Old Man Marburg's the hardest because he has the most points in it and you have those other guys shooting at you from the start, but it's doable. Save him for last.

Yeah Marburg was the guy I was fighting and it was the first place I went to. The fight was not remotely winnable as far as I could tell. My guy was specializing in hand-to-hand and stealth but if I got anywhere close to the boss he would just beat the shit out of me. I resorted to stealth and really awful pistol shots but it did essentially no damage and the incoming bodyguards usually ran me down if the boss didn't. I understand the concept of "coming back later" but the game's primary strength, if only strength really, was a strong and interesting narrative and if I had to break that apart just to advance I simply had no interest.

I'll probably pick it up again whenever it hits $5 or whatever.

I heard this game is buggy. Do you need a unofficial patch, tweaking inis, mods, fixes? Anything I should know before playing?

also official patches work well with pirated versions right

It's not that buggy. There are a few bosses that can glitch out, so save often. The autosave feature can also sometimes mess up and "forget" progress (like secondary objective progress), so just make sure you do each mission in one go (not a big deal as they're only like 15-20 minutes each for the most part). There are no unofficial patches but there are a few INI tweaks out there if you have performance issues. As far as I know the official patch fixes most of those problems.

Using the ini tweak to disable mouse smoothing is a fucking must, do that.

Divinity: Original Sin
I heard this game is buggy.
I never encountered any bugs and the only one I know pops up with any frequency from reading on the 'net is that helicopter not spawning that jcd got. It's really quite amazing how the bug rumor was blow out of proportion. The game does have quite a few glitch though, but nothing too serious. The worst problem is that stuttering due to the way the engine handles caching, but there are ini tweaks to fix that.

Using the ini tweak to disable mouse smoothing is a fucking must, do that.
Yeah, but then you really should be doing this with every single game that has smoothing on by default. I can't believe anyone ever though that was a good idea.

Final note about Alpha Protocol - don't play a melee-only ninja character. There are late-game bosses that will utterly fuck you up if you go that route. Max out Chain Shot in the Pistol tree and you'll be fine.

Max pistol, max stealth and a small amount in the hacking related skill tree (so that the minigames become a reasonably fair difficulty and you can skip the shit ones with an EMP) will break the 'combat' part of the game.

Even stealth is entirely unnecessary with a good pistol score.

The real appeal of Alpha Protocol is the dialogue and choice. Take the time to collect and buy Dossiers and actually read those things. They help you to understand the characters before you speak to them which will help with making those characters like or hate you.

Don't be afraid to piss people off. Often it gives you a lot of positive outcomes and useful perks.

Nice try.

Single out the one scene that doesn't significantly change and claim that AP has no choice.

my character is so badass he holds the gun up to the side with one hand and the bullet goes on the other direction

there's something shitty about this game that I'm not consciously noticing, I think it's the controls/feel/fucking disgusting hacking minigame, maybe if I keep playing it'll go away

I'm playing Normal(already regretting it, too if the game keeps "feeling" this way), going to go full sabotage and pistol/stealth if I can

/blog

are EMP grenades scarce? how do I get the most of them? avoid spoiling, apparently the plot is the deal

circ: protip: typing in all caps and not using a single example from the game does shitall for your argument.

And the boat is a closing epilogue moment, like the ending to Fallout 1. Yes it's the same each time for the most part but the stuff leading up to it is very different and the stuff following it (the news reports in the credits and the mission summary which both outline the consequences of what you've done) also change a lot.

Singling out the one scene that doesn't change is a shitty strawman argument.

Alpha Protocol does have flaws and sometimes the choices aren't as good as they should be (for example while story and cutscenes change a lot the gameplay doesn't change enough in most cases) but that example is fucking terrible.

Now fuck off before you spoil the game for Oriebam.

Oriebam: You buy EMPs from the clearinghouse. You can only carry 2 EMPs per slot so clear up your inventory if that's what you prioritise.

The gameplay will get somewhat better as you level up the skills and can actually hit what you aim at but unfortunately it's always going to have clunky gunplay and tedious minigames.

Alpha Protocol is one of the few games where I'd recommend playing on easy and just playing for the dialogue because you'll get nothing out of the game on those harder difficulty runs. They are just tedious.

That said normal is still pretty easy and you'll clear through it pretty quickly once you get enough points in pistol.

Ok no spoilers.

Um EMP's. You could buy a rambo suit/stealth suit or engineer suit. Come in different qualities, need to be around endgame to get the really good stuff. Engineer suit obviously has the most EMP and other gadget slots. Rambo suit best protection, stealth had some stealth bonus. Some of that stuff was cool.

Managed to get the high score in the shooting range sidequest... by fucking it up on purpose... then I tried to get the absolute worst score again in the espionage training sidequest but the guy just made the "excellent" reply again :retarded:

how were you supposed to do it right, anyway? the second guard kept seeing me, were you supposed to use wallhax to catch him with his back turned/ get on the rope at the precise moment he's going to stand there doing nothing? shit I don't think I ever checked if the door in the middle was unlocked

but now I'm enjoying it, despite it being both very obviously unfinished and a bad port... and the uniform pattern, I don't even

Welcome to generic modern console shooters.

No matter what you do you are still SPECIAL.

first one was :retarded: with score calculations (my guess is firing at walls and "aimed shots" somehow made my score much much better, since I took longer than I ever did on that run)

second one was a bug, the game locked me with the excellent reply (there's more than one)
