Meanwhile that one year old game can still spark up enough passion to get a 9 page thread within a week.
It's more like a "4E sux" and "Caster vs Martial balance argument" thread rather than anyone speaking in detail about POE.

9 pages in a week. I mean, that's CRAZY!

23 pages in 4 days doesn't even get close to that!

lol I like how Ezrite barged into this thread with NEWS FROM 4CHAN and turned it into a complete shitshow overnight

How many people here are actually playing the game? Seems like if it's not a Kickstarter where the entire Codex hops on board and gets the game simultaneously, there's a problem getting a decent sample size of impressions.

To be fair, that writer's reply in Beamdog's forum is completely devoid of any interest in good storytelling. It is quite impressive how she answered like good storytelling is not a thing. If the people working on the product don't give a shit about it, why should anybody else?

Despite all this, I do hope that they do OK, because it is questionable whether the industry can overcome another big failure right now. And I too am waiting for feedback on the large battles, which I predicted to be a catastrophe (and hope I am wrong).
ToB already had some big battles, at least when modded with SCS. Fight against the giant king springs to mind foremost, that one had more and more enemies entering the battlefield as well until you kill the head honcho. It might've not worked that way in vanilla exactly, I'm not sure, but it worked well there, tough fight.

And then there's ofc this optional battle in SCS II:

There's certainly some copy pasted encounters in the same vein as PoE has, which doesn't really add that much to the game.

The "all goblins look the same" thing is pretty light-hearted and is the kind of thing that could have appeared in the original games. Actually, I think SJWs might be offended by it.

The 'LGBTQ community', Christ. I'm bisexual and therefore part of this 'community'. Douchebags like that mod make me fucking sick! #KILLALLFAGGOTSNOW!

Also them throwing in that obvious #GamerGate reference, I just don't get it. Maybe if they did it 12-18 months ago or whenever #GamerGate was REALLY happening, but why bring it out now? Why poke the bear NOW? Can't be for 'SJW Street cred,' whoever put that line in there had to really go out of his way to antagonize a bunch of people just for the hell of it. Just because he could.:D Just HAD TO stick it to GG. Stupid.

Nothing strange with that. Most popular books in D&D about a good drow revolve around him trying to fit into racist world where everyone hates drow on sight. This has part of D&D forever now.

I didn't even know that that referenced until I read the explanation. Personally I don't care as I didn't care to follow or fight in GG stupidness. I leave that for stupid americans who obviously don't have better things to do in life - like surviving.

finished it.

overall feels like ToB 2.0 so rather linear high fantasy adventure. It is not as retarded epic as ToB was you fight more ogres, knights and mages and less demons, devils and dragons. The final in ninth hell was pretty cool and the actual siege was better than i expected. Some boring fetch quests and some genuinely good quests. Locations are nice next to IWD probably best looking IE game. I did not like that bitch Caela or whats her name so i was satisfied i could fuck her over in the end. Final boss was disappointing but not as a fight but he feels like a forced "muhhh nostalgia trip". Half of encounters are old bg1/PoE trash mobs. The rest are either big fights with +30 participants(rather chaotic but fun) or really good small scale fights. Loot is ok although lot of shit is class/race restricted. I do like that some of them have bonuses like +1 to constitution but +2 if you are dwarf so those items dont feel totally useless. Most of items are in +2-3 range so strong but not on BG2 level. Companions are better written than those new from EE they don feel like copied straight from tubmlr. Bard is pretty cool guy, shaman is ok, i did not use cleric/thief and lesbian archer can be annoying but at least you can kill the bitch in the epilogue. Felt pretty good :yeah:

My biggest gripe is that epilogue and main story feel really disjointed. You could release SoD without Irenicus parts and last 30 minutes of game and it would be pretty good self contained story. Another adventure for child of bhaal killing shit left and right and looting epic shit.

:3/5:

Would give 4 out of 5 since IE nostalgia is strong in me but fuck those SJW parts. Writing for the most time feels exactly like Bg1 with it more or less funny quirks but than out of nowhere you have this retarded modern political gender agenda forced in fucking fantasy game. I really hope they will not make BG3 with that writing team. I want my BG games full of sex objects, nagging wives, damsels in distress and straight white male heroes:rpgcodex:

Ick, so that's whom her face reminded me of all the time

During first playthrough I missed on dungeon with dorfs and undead and now am terrified. It's like ToEE but undead instead of bugbears. Truly awful place.

I don't even know why people care about sexuality in games. It makes no sense, though I wouldn't have complained if they allowed intercourse with the sexual workers so common throughout BGII without the need of mods made by a third party.

At the moment, there's a bug in the engine (and a few sound related IDS files) which makes rare selection sounds fire when they are not supposed to.

Every NPC in SoD has 4 rare selection sounds which are only supposed to trigger if you repeatedly select that NPC over and over (i.e. keep clicking on them). Minsc's "Really, it's all about ethics..." and M'Khiin's "So, all goblins look alike..." lines are both supposed to be rare selection sounds, but due to the two bugs mentioned before, they may unintentionally trigger under different circumstances.

It's the casual use of the racism word that SJWs like to throw with gleeful abandon nowadays at everything they don't like. Lol it's so wrong to hate the goblins, what did they ever do to anyone, dats rayciss man. Fucking hateful bigots, why do people hate the drow so much, just look at viconia, she's cool and all etc. People in a D&D universe have bigger problems to deal with, that word shouldn't even exist there, it's just there to score SJW points.

Sure they love to throw it around but in this case that line could easily be perceived as making light of actual real life racism (against Asians). It's a joke line, to these people you're not supposed to joke about racism.

This is insult for any Pratchett fan, he never was SWJ.

...I recommend you avoid his final books. :M

Cant you see how fucking stupid it is to have the ethics line in the game at this point in time. You are literally costing your self sales with this because of the collective groan you hear from any one who is tired of this shit that is going on. Now i have fun following this entire shit show, but from a business point it is more or less retarded.

Take the Stardew valley dev. He has some connections to Gamer Gate and he kept his dam mouth shut because it would be bad for business if he started some stupid internet fights.
