That three lines of dialogue have more symbolic meaning of the political agenda that was implemented to the expansion, trans-gender character is more a reference point then anything else.

Left Hand of Darkness is a book that takes place on a planet populated by tranny hermaphrodite gay aliens. It's a lot of lines. Curiously, it's a pretty good book regardless.

SoD has "three lines" of token SJW and LGBT PSA. Somehow people find it shitty and out of place.

Could it be
A) Because it is contextually and "historically" inappropriate and tone-deaf, and likely poorly written, with major hints of tokenism,
Or B) Because all of the gamers that grew up WITH FUCKING GAMING PCs and therefore by default in a much more progressive-liberal environments than most of their peers, are all reactionary troglodyte sexists?

You decide!

Problem is not tranny, but implementation.

by implementation you mean the 3 lines of dialogue a random npc has?

Edwina: Flawed character within the existing lore that you can react to like you react to every other NPC in the game. Interesting spin on the idea of an existing cursed item in the forgotten realms and how someone would react to having that item equipped, meanwhile your PC can tell her to shut up and stop complaining (As far as I can remember.. I loved Edwina so I would never do that)

MIZAHANDASJD: Amber's Pet Project / Token Trans character that you have to be nice to and listen to as she drones on and on about the story Amber wanted to tell. I actually think this wouldn't be such a big deal still.. if Amber could just shut her fat face on Social media.. But she just keeps throwing chum into the water then crying when the GooberGobbers circle the boat.

One is done in good humor with a subtle message underlying. One is slamming your head with a club TRANS TRANS TRANS

Then you need to take a look in the mirror, because you must be one yourself, too.

It's not like this is the first gender bender in a fantasy story. It's just done so poorly, it's jarring and takes you out of the game.

It's not even the first one done in Forgotten Realms.

Edwin turns into Edwina.. Elminster is transformed into a girl during his teenage years... and probably more things I can't think of.
Forgotten realms has tons of established examples of LGBT content.

I've never paid it much heed or given a shit really.. This is literally the first time I've seen some pandering piece of shit in forgotten realms of all places... and got put off.

EDIT:
Like honestly.. Forgotten Realms is a pandering breeding ground.. How low can you go to actually annoy it's fans.

They should have implented that gorgeous female charisma 18 companion who really hits it off with the protagonist from the getgo. She is funny, witty, she shares interests like killing and looting and stuff and she even hates the same things. Awww cute, a perfect match.

She also responds positively to flirt attempts only to pull back shortly after a few times, and one time she even gets so upset that she runs off into the night. You can choose to follow her tracks and you find her sitting under a tree staring off into the distance, lost in thoughts, playing with a ring on her finger. You ask her if that is an engagement ring and tell her that you will be a gentleman and stop pursuing her if that is so, and she just answers some cryptic stuff like "It means i belong to a man that is no more" or something.

You can then comfort her and tell her that you dont mind and you accept her for what she is and that you dont care about the past. Yadda yadda yadda, you want to get in her pants after all. She is relieved that you are so understanding, hugs are given, and romantic love takes its course. And then, during a supergraphic cgi sex scene, she loses her cursed gender transformation ring in the process of banging (because the curse is lifted once she finds true love) and POOF, you are suddently stuck inside the asshole of a very hairy man. You then are presented a multiple choice section to 1)keep going 2)run away screaming 3)strangle him 4)strangle him and keep going.

It would still be tranny content, it would still be a pretty retarded take on the topic, but i believe somehow that the codex wouldnt have lost its shit as much over that one.

Firedorn Saga - SJWs get content removed, GamerGate gets mad.
Mizhena Saga - GamerGate wants content removed?

It's a bit unfair that Obsidian got through it more-or-less completely unscathed while Beamdog might get completely trashed, but life is always harder when you're smaller.

In my opinion, there are few things that made the outcry a lot different for two companies.

The timing, when Firedorn Saga happened, few people outside GG cared about SJWs and almost everyones reaction was "Its just a stupid poem, noone cares.". On the other hand Mizhena Saga comes at the time when there are a lot more people tired with the whole SJW bullshit, with the latest being the Overwatch ass controversy.

Reaction of Obsidian was done much better, instead of attacking or mocking their fans they simply shifted the blame from themselves and said it was authors decision to change and that they also didnt want to change it. I personally think thats bullshit but it was enough for majority of their fans.

Fans, while majority of Obsidian fans are long time followers who are willing to forgive companies mistakes as long they provide them with the games they will enjoy. Beamdog fans are not really their fans but fans of BG, and Beamdog already had a shaky relationship with them due poor releases of EE editions, inserting SJW politics was only the last drop that lead to outrage.

Personally I think Firedorn Saga is far greater wrongdoing. Obsidian shit on their fans due a complain of a random nutjob and for what, a shitty poem no sane person cared about.

As for Mizhena, I dont care about people putting trannies in games or preaching about values of diversity or any other SJW bullshit. Im all for freedom of speech and artistic freedom, if its your game you are free to do anything you want with it. So Im all for that SJW nonsense to stay in the game, but that wont stop me from saying its retarded, saying its poorly written and forced, and that I will not be buying it.

Has anyone actually asked Beamdog to remove it? The common response has been not buying the game or asking for refunds. A customer's answer. PoE's rection from certain sectors of the public has more to do with the bullying tactics the creative team for D:OS suffered in the beginning.

I don't think so. I think generally people have been pissed at such a poorly written insert, and it's implications for the rest of the writing, rather than just demanding outright removal.
