The character models are straight out of Dragon Age Inquisition. They look terrible. Or maybe it's the lighting on them.

Has Swen said anything about reworking itemization? Or is it still entirely random generic shit like dos2?

That blade he just found is nonmagical but has 1d6+1 instead of the usual 1d8 from a nonmagical longsword or the 1d6+1 and +1 to hit (-1 Thac0) from a magical shortsword.
Looks promising for me. Hard to make generic loot on the 5e ruleset.

I remember reading an excerpt from an interview where he said there'd be fixed item locations, but I think that was in regards to the loot found in certain chests. Based on what we've seen so far it looks like random enemies still drop randomised loot.

What's more important is whether the items themselves have randomly generated attributes, Diablo-style. Which they don't, because this is D&D.

There isn't an issue with a little bit of randomisation, say a +1 longsword could occasionally be a +1 battleaxe instead.

Biggest issue is that they avoid Divinity itemisation with +1% damage mods and all the usual loot tomfoolery.

If they're following the 5e ethos, magic items should be pretty rare and be meaningful upgrades.

What I didn't like is how close the characters wound up being even though two of them went through the wall and the other two through the well. What was the point of that? I thought that maybe you get extra loot or avoid the encounter if you go through the wall since it requires a passed check and the well doesn't. I also hate the character and object outlines. I really, really want the option to remove them.

The level design and encounter design seems perfect. I can't judge the entire game, but this gameplays are near perfect in most aspects.

It makes little difference on 5e.

On 2e was different. Swords was better vs zombies and maces vs skeletons. Plato armor had different values to deflect slashes and blunt and so on...

I just don't like turn based BG. It seems so slow, like a slog. Looking him play it felt tedius and boring. It takes ages to move around and do things. BG 1 and 2 were much faster than that. I don't understand why people find this slog attractive. Are all of you unemployed bums who have hundrends of hours to waste on a game? I felt physical pain waiting for his party to move around.... And turn based combat is exactly like DOS, that is, it will take ages to finish an encounter, while in BG 1-2 all but boss fights ended pretty quickly.

This is the reason people don't finish RPGs.... Yes they see the pretty graphics, vote 11/10 on user reviews, then leave the game unplayed in their collection because they have no time/lost interest.

First time that i agree with you. Some RPG's are unplayable due slow animations like Wizardry 8. Note that Dark Sun : Shattered Lands in 1993 allowed us to speed up/skip animations and ToEE had concurrent turns. Why not put it in a turn based game?
