Played a bit yesterday. Seems nice. I like the possibility to upgrade armours, some of the new consumables are cool, there's a bit more variety to contracts and to enemies. Feels like a nice evolutionary improvement.
I'd say that if you put 100+ hours into the original, it's well worth the price. If not, it won't make you like it. Good job in any case and I'm really looking forward to what these guys will come up with next.
Did the Devs state any reason why the Company commander (you) is absent from the game? I means its obvious you participate in battles. Why not add him as a bro? If he dies the highest ranking bro assumes command. I think it will increase role play sacrificing all those beggars, millers, ratcachers and whatnot to protect yourself.
People were asking all the times either for leading commander(on battlefield with his special set of skills) or commanding leader who lead from the back(not fighting on battlefield but custom with support company skills). Heck even for separate commander(who is one of brother and when die is replaced by another) and player as a Paymaster/Quartermaster/Chronicles man of the company. Damn even for spirit of the founder of the company who can't stand that his company is going down. They stubbornly stick to their idea.
Which is crippled officer of failed company who lead from afar by smoke signals or magic. I mean it make sense for XCOM with all of high tech but whatever. He was supposedly no one special but later you get pieces of story mentioning his similar appearance to deceased emperor(of the Ancient Dead) and how emperor undead wife is thirsty for his dick - enough to send legions of dead to ravage world. If you play DLC you will see how in many places is mentioned special heritage/blood/etc of captain.
So yeah. Instead of band of misfits having dangerous adventures we got special snowflake who hoards gold and is main character in game with no story or any characterization.
So far my experience.
Also sadly I added funds to Kraut war chest.
>Alps
The biggest band I was fighting was 8 and in forest. Luckily it has road so it wasn't bad. In hard terrain snow/forest/or swamp they can be really dangerous if player don't have pathfinder mostly because its hard to keep safe formation. Swamp is bad place to fight them even with Pathfinder. Overall you can fight them on any level with any weapon and its more of a puzzle than a combat. Which isn't bad but in unfavorable terrain it can take a lot of time or end in disaster(chokepoints, no Pathfinder, no dogs). Pretty tedious but not terrible.
>Unhold
Fought four(in largest band) with mid level company(raider tier equipment). They are dangerous. As far as I can tell they can be tanked separately by solo soldiers(either good dodge/shield tanks or throwaways/dogs) when rest company focus on the single one. Swords work really well as a cleavers(thanks to high damage and them not having a armor). Poison especially goblin one is a godsend. Early I would bring orc weapons if player can acquired any. And nets of course. A lot of. Great work with arrow and poison. Overall pretty fun to fight even if extremely dangerous.
>spiders
As mentioned before spiders are fun enemy to fight but not that challenging when you skills have and equipment. Dunno how people have any problem with them?
>hags&schrats
Luckily didn't met them but seen village with 'missing children' status so they probably not far away.
Currently my throw away soldiers are build around stat gains:
>Colossus, Gifted, Dodge, Backstabber
>Rotation, Underdog
They are surprisingly hard to discard and I must put them in very dangerous situations with subpar equipment to actually get them killed.
Nimble to be honest looks really sweet even on heavier armored brothers. I mean with some of the armor improvements it can easily protect from bolts and other piercing shit.
Progression is so much better than I am really afraid
. I could even have fun with the game again. Damn you krauts!!
Bros give me some support I am really scared.
Also even with extra inventory space - item management is terrible. Biggest gripe so far.
So it's day 40 and I have acquired a Mansplitter and Head splitter (2H and 1H orc axes) - I'm tempted to use them but the fatigue cost is scaring me. The one bro I was going to use as a 2H bro right now has about 70 fatigue when kitted out with the axe at lvl 7 (and no iron lung). It seems like he would get one, maybe two swings in before he can't go anymore.
Shelve these bad boys for longer? They just don't seem super usable at the moment.
Wrong. I hated* the original after like 30 hours and this expac is probably gonna put my total to like 50-60. If they stick to this release model the game might actually be good in like 2-3 expansions.
*game should seriously be renamed to Banal Brothers
rapsdjff you know what would be relatively easy to add and would also be real cool to have?
Ego-stats for your mercs. How many kills they have, strongest enemy killed, most used weapon, number of injuries....
They are all stats that should be easy to follow (some you already do, as seen in Death screen) and would add a bit to the "character" of each merc imo
Battle sisters mod got update for new version. Now it has more faces(because new hexen models) and dark skins. When my company will die i will start new one and call it Diversity Squad
And my company will die soon, because orkz are coming and I'M NOT PREPARED.

I tried giving this a go, got used to the artstyle... but... what's with the bobbing up and down thing? Srsly? My band of legless mercenaries is jumping up and down like a gang of schoolgirls.
Am I the only one with this particular brand of autism or does anyone else find it distracting af?
In case anyone wants a decent seed and is still on the last patch .17 : HAILKODEX was the best I ever found, even browsing the steam thread. Has 5 hunter's cabins for instance.
What affects dagger puncture damage?
Is it only Duelist, Crippling strikes, Killing Frenzy and Drunkard/ new Huge trait? + some pots/shrooms, but mostly interested in permanent stuff.
