I thought peasant start might be easy, but it's the opposite. You get the men, but the morale is low, weapons are shit and money is rare. It's a tough start! Half the company is dead after 2 battles. I like it, but I don't think it's worth learning any names just yet :)

Everyone knows Arabs started with straight swords like the Europeans but with the passing of time they started to be come curved. Historians believe it was from all the buttsheks.

Europeans and Arabs both started to use curved swords for same reason, invasion of steppe cultures. Usage of curved swords by Arabs in middle-east didn't become common until 14th and 15th centuries after militaries with steppe tradition, such as Mamelukes and Timurids, completely dominated. Eastern Europeans started using curved swords in 15th and 16th centuries after they came in contact with Turks, while western Europeans started to use them in 18th most likely adopting them from Eastern European troops like Polish, Hungarians and Croats. Croats especially were famous during 30 years war, in 17th century.

In medieval era, the only ones using curved swords were steppe peoples. This is mostly Turks in Middle-east and "Tatars" in Europe, it might have included Avars, Magyars, Bulgars amongst others but we do not know that.

What difficulty settings are best? I do veteran economy and starting gold, and then the hardest combat setting. Tip: play iron man but don't use the iron man setting; iron man causes the game to save at every town and slows the game down a lot.

Anyway I've gotten repeatedly slaughtered as the cultists. Need to git gud again.

I am not git gud and I play veteran combat, beginner economy, 'soft ironman'. I think a game like BB should always be played ironman-ish, but I prefer not having the autosave stutters & the rare reload.

Bought the moment it came out, hope to have time to try the different backgrounds soon. I'm leaning towards the smaller elite starts to see how that changes the early-mid dynamic.

Any good map seeds yet?
I was going to ask how can I see my seed, but then I remembered - look at like new stuff or whatever? 's avatar.
I think OAQZPHWMJL is pretty good. Two circular routes, villages selling dyes and amber, and connected to cities.

Got it on GOG but for some reason it doesn't show on GOG Galaxy.
I've had the most bizzare issues with GOG, as usual.
I first installed it at my 4k PC, through Galaxy. Then I made the mistake to install it on one of my laptops, again through Galaxy. Galaxy synched the settings file, and as a result, when I started it on the laptop, the UI had scaled to 200% and the menu items which were partially visible were not responding to clicks. The devs shouldn't sync the UI scaling part of the settings. Eventually I had to download the old school installers from GOG and install the game on both my laptops with them. Actually much better to play this way and without Galaxy IMO.

Installed the DLC manually and it did the trick.

Playing as a Lonewolf and having fun so far. I guess the early mid game might be easier but other than that its a challenge.
Any tips on two handed? I know two handed swords are good but they feel underwheling against shieldbearers. Is the two handed axe the superior choice?

Same issue happened to me with the Steam version. All you have to do is set your desktop to 720p, the game will display properly then, and in the settings of the game change it to 1080p, exit and set your desktop back to 1080p. Voila, game works. You seriously uninstalled and did all this nonsense to fix this issue?
