Someone famous once said that with great power comes great responsibility. However, some people think that great power means great fun.
Where is the truth? You tell me.

Priest Simulator is a realistic, well, simulator of living as the most privileged person in town.
  • Do the sermons. People will obey you.
  • Give the sacraments. According to your own price list.
  • Visit people. Collect loot.
  • Modernize you church. Or your saint laboratory.
  • Perform exorcisms on possessed people. Or animals.
  • Destroy the sects. Or make alliances.
  • Fight with other priests in Divine Powers Challanges. Or take part in illegal races.
  • Spend money on car upgrades. Or weapons to fight demons.
But first of all remember - take care of your reputation. Because you live in a place where almost everyone wants to pull your leg.

That one was from CD-Action, sole survivor who recently dropped discs altogether

Another old time would-be WoW-killer MMO studio goes down: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/...on_Worlds_following_acquisition_by_Gamigo.php

Report: Significant layoffs at Trion Worlds following acquisition by Gamigo

Trion Worlds has laid off a significant portion of its staff. According to a source speaking to Gamasutra, the layoffs came as a result of the company's acquisition by Gamigo.

According to a statement from Trion Worlds sent to Gamasutra, "there has been a transaction involving Trion Worlds and its games" that have indeed resulted in layoffs at the company.

Trion Worlds declined to comment on the extent of the layoffs itself, saying via email that "while many of the names and faces you’ve come to know in our studios will remain on through this transition, others will not be making the journey. To those who are leaving us, we are forever grateful for your incredible work and contributions over the years."

A source speaking to Gamasutra, however, has indicated that those layoffs may have affected the vast majority of the studio. According to that source, only 25 or so employees were given the opportunity to continue on with the studio. According to that information, the remaining developers at both the company’s Redwood City, California and Austin, Texas offices have been affected by the layoffs. Prior to this, Trion Worlds employed over 200 people.

As always, if you or someone you know has been affected by these layoffs, you can email Gamasutra to share your story confidentially.

This was Jon Van Caneghem's old company.

Team Fortress 2 mod reverts the game to 2008 - and it's coming to Steam

Chaser:

UPDATE 26/10/18: All good things must come to an end, but it seems TF2008's end came particularly quickly, as the mod's newly-approved Steam page has now been removed.

According to an email screenshot shared on the mod's Discord server, it appears Valve has U-turned on its decision to launch the mod on Steam. The reason cited is the modder did not sufficiently prove they were creating "a mod of TF2 and not just repurposing leaked code". The email did not rule out the possibility of the mod returning once the modder had sufficiently demonstrated the code used was not leaked.

It seems modder XYK had other ideas, however, as the TF2008 Discord server has now been deleted. Well, sort of - it's called "Burger" and all the previous comments have been replaced with pictures of food. XYK left the server with a deeply unpleasant parting comment, while footage saved on YouTube shows the mod community go into meltdown following the news the server was to be deleted.

It's not the first time the TF2008 project has been proclaimed "dead" before resurfacing on another server. Equally, the mod had been set back by Valve before for the same reason - leaked source code was not allowed, meaning everything had to be changed. But with a parting comment as grim as the one left by XYK, it seems likely to be dead for good this time. And maybe that's for the best.

XYK did not respond to Eurogamer's request for comment on TF2008's removal from Steam and the future of the project.
