The problem is, "mainstream" YT is fast becoming the only YT.

This mindless dreck pushes out all else on the front page, and even heavily infects search results, regardless of if you're logged in or not. In a few years, finding ANYTHING of worth will almost be an impossibility.

Especially after Google announced they are going to start deleting inactive channels.

Sure, Youtube is a lost cause for discovery and will only get worse but why would you want to base what you watch on some company's algorithm in the first place. Just follow people you like. Share videos with actual people with similar tastes. This is the same as people complaining about shovel ware on Steam. Why would you fucking care unless you were relying on the site to feed you shit to consume.

I'm not at all at this point. It used to be that the recommendations would almost entirely be based off your watched history, and you could often find genuinely relevant and interesting material that way. Those days are gone, and it is now mountains of lowest common denominator trash at every turn, none of which bears ANY relevance to what you watch.

Idiocracy made manifest.

This started a long, long time ago. It was kinda present when Youtube was an independent company and not google owned. The front page would have fixed suggestions which were around a handful of videos from some sketch youtubers that don't exist anymore and Shane Dawson. I'm talking about 2010 youtube. Youtubers have said that having your face (or any face) in the thumbnail increases the chances that it's going to be seen.

Likely due to the comics/cartoons/3D games. Making Sonic more than a series of 2D side-scrollers was a mistake.
It wasn't a mistake because it gave us hundreds of hours of comedy.

My personal favorite are the self-insert shippers, usually called "yume" for the female ones. Like this girl who pairs her self-insert with Dr. Eggman.

Hey, I bet a lot of Codexers look a lot like Eggman, so maybe you have a chance with women after all.

I was not aware of this specimen. What is it about Sonic that attracts such an exceptional audience?

Reminder that in the DS game Sonic Rush the final boss theme has samples from a Malcolm X speech.

This is also the game where the final boss is the time travelling descendant of Dr. Eggman called Eggman Nega, or just Nega for short.

Part of this is the mindset thingie methinks. You're not in right state of mind right after a loss, especially if it's a series of losses against the same boss.
I am reminded of my own childhood experience. In the Ultimate Spider-Man on PS2 there was a particularly infuriating QTE you need to do in order to progress with the Carnage boss fight right near the end of the game. I recall a lot of rage and a lot of failed attempts.
The next day i calmed down and did it on my first try. Good times.
