I saw JarlFrank's old book covers a long time ago and to this day I sometimes wonder how can anyone allow their name and work to be associated with something like that. What exacerbates my beffudlement is the fact that he seems to have an eye for aesthetics. In short, what I mean to say is — JarlFrank, what the actual fuck?

It's kinda shit tbh because I wrote it when I was young. I no longer consider it worth reading, my writing has improved tremendously since then and every time I re-read it it makes me cringe

BUT it's out of print now, so any remaining copies might be valuable one day!
The publisher went out of business a couple years ago and any remaining copies are from the first print run. I don't see any royalties from it anymore since the publisher is dead and gone.

Whether I could or couldn't (and for the sake of argument let's say I have my early childhood drawings that are of about similar quality) is immaterial. It's not about the level of skill, it's about having at least a shred of self-awareness and a general sense of what's on a level appropriate to actually serve as a cover for anything.

I think JarlFrank drawings are pretty good. They have consistent style, ie they are recognizable as having been drawn by the same author. The style is quite charming actually. They are not some kids doodling, way too elaborate for that. Also they are not naive, for example the chair drawn with somewhat medieval looking perspective doesn't look like drawn by somebody who tried modern perspective and failed but is looking deliberate. Interesting relations between characters, outlandish atmosphere etc. Certainly work of a talented artist if not a work of the highest Art.
