Could someone please make an account for me on RPGCodex? I can't make an account because it says I am using a proxy, when I am not. It's got something to do with the fact that my ISP uses a revolving IP, or something like that.

So someone, please make an account for me there, and pm me the login ID and password. I promise I wont misuse it.

Many thanks!

The Watchers seem very paranoid about Codexers:

I would be untrusthing towards anyone from codex no matter what they ask. Account misuse is propably a hobby for them.

They ban people at the Codex? Must have been a serial killer or something, way those people are. Nah, they'd probably encourage serial killers. Hard to imagine what they would ban for, since spam, porn links, and uploading viruses to other users' computers is required to be a member.

Isn't this just some kind of joke by bored Codex people?

If it is, I fell for it.

Not the first time. And NO, I WON'T GIVE YOU ANY EXAMPLES!!!

Eh… Sorry about that.

Is there some kind of lurid history there? The only thing I know about is some Codexers making a refugee thread at the Watch when the Codex was down for a while and a couple of Codexers (Melcar, Crispy, oldmanpaco, etc.) that also post over there.

First of all, the female poster in question did not mind and she even tried to help me out by getting a message of mine across. Second, I wasn't exactly flirting with her. I was just bringing her out into the spotlight, just for kicks. If I had wanted to hit on her, I would have pm'd her, instead of making a thread about her in the open.

Second, I am in touch with one of the admins of the Codex, DarkUnderlord specifically, and he has given me a 'Quest'. If I fulfill it, I will get unbanned.

Only problem is, it could potentially take me many months to complete the 'Quest'.

Maybe his quest is to resolve the server issues. Probably collecting money through criminal means. We need details, DarkUnderlord!

RPGWatch is probably the worst site dedicated to RPGs. Evidence of this can be found in their "Polls & Comments" sub-forum.

Hellgate London, huh? The setting was cool, sure, but not much else. Still, the very fact they chose it over the Witcher makes RPGWatch a little bit less bad in my book.

I thought the "favourite RPG element" poll was the worst one. I mean, I know combat tends to suck tremendously in RPGs, but combat is still generally done a thousand times better than NPC interaction. NPC interaction usually involves picking one out of a number of developer written lines, following flowcharts through conversations to scripted conclusions. At least you can beat combat encounters in ways that the developer didn't specifically cater for.

It's on this guy's sig, and clicking on it point to this, though it doesn't seem to refer to the conversation on the gif. Still a funny read on it's own right.

My problem with the term rape is that it generates in me a powerful emotional response of women fighting to protect themselves, then being violently raped by a man/men. I don't like that, I would never do that and I would fight to protect people from that.

Getting drunk and having sex with a girl (who said she didn't want sex when she was sober) definitely have done that, and had a buddy have to go to court for rape when he did too. So I guess I don't like to classify some things as rape because that would make me a rapist? I don't know, the night just kinda leaned that way.

faricazy YOU WERE RIGHT

holy shit

I am creeped the fuck out.

itt jigrah admits to rape

I gave them some leniency on that one because for me it's Character Development > Combat. But then it occurred to me a lot of people may have voted for Character Development because they thought it meant the development of your character's personality or some shit like that

Eh, I dunno, all most lots of rpgs have shit combat, including the ones belonging to the Codex holy trinity. And considering the trinity, seems like a codexian poll wouldn't give much different results. Does anyone here like Arcanum or PST's combat?

It really depends what they mean by "RPG element." There's a huge difference between NPC interaction using stats and gameplay mechanics, and well, Mass Effect (make choices with express LACK of mechanics). Same for, well, the rest of the choices.

If you were to ask me, I wouldn't prioritize any of those elements above another - as long as there is a sound game structure behind any element, that's good.

True dat bro, except that both those games have pretty interesting character development. And yeah, I like IE combat, and I dislike Arcanum. So I dunno.

Beth fans asking for QTEs now:

http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/t ... ry18896241

It'd make a cool game mechanic to be able to freeze a dragon but make it a challenge. Like what if you couldnt just shoot the spell at them but actually had to rotate the joystick according to on screen prompts and you had a success or failure rate based on how well you followed the prompt. Idk something like that. Doubt that's in the game though but it would be a neat idea. Then it'd feel like your actually fighting the dragon and not just hammering it spells

What, it doesn't have QTE's already? Skyrim confirmed for dated mechanics.
