Glorious Nippon.
I love how glitches in Bethesta games work. Seriously, I was getting pounded by a snow bear, when all of a sudden a horse comes out of the ground and propels the bear into the air, and then to death upon impact to the ground.
AMAZING.
Name me a game where the portrayal of gnomes hasn't implied some troublingly anti-Semitic tropes.
Arcanum was really awful about this. Gnomes were rich bankers who had a gigantic conspiracy surrounding them.
Unless there's some real evidence to suggest Arcanum's designers hated Jews, this is unspeakably laughable. There is a subplot in Arcanum where you find out that a cabal of wealthy gnome industrialists are running the big human technological city's government from behind the scenes and breeding half-ogres to act as thugs and bodyguards for them. There is a quest line to expose them (you cannot succeed). Also they are physically feeble and get a bonus to Haggle. It's a real shame because Arcanum is in many ways a fantastic game, it just has a few unfortunate elements.
I bet Conan O'Brien hates Germans, and I bet Germans were really offended by that video. Stereotypes are no laughing matter, no sir.People in EVE (or maybe it's just Goonfleet?) think it's totally okay to call very rich characters "Space Jews." That still blows my mind.
Today on Nerd's Are Goddamn Dreadful Creatures: Skyrim Mods.
It's dreadful and creepy when beta male nerds express their heterosexuality in some way. Don't they know their mere existence is enough to make women puke? They should either kill themselves or become attractive to women by joining violent biker gangs and going to prison.People who pick some WoW races because they find the model more pleasing to the eye due to its conventionally "attractive" features are pretty damn creepy.
All their political correctness and walking-on-egg-shells hypersensitivity goes right out the window when they're talking about Japan. Then it's ok to hold an entire country collectively responsible for something done by one company. What the hell Japan? I was watching this preview of Otomedius Excellent and its so disturbing.

Andyman Messiah comes to the salvation of mankind! Even those who spend their days in this valley of tears getting pounded by snow bears. Or maybe only them?

Andyman has majestic powers in Skyrim!
It's actually really interesting how out-of-favor Japanese pop culture has fallen amidst gamers in recent years. Considering how the atmosphere was "everything made in Japan is better" only a few years back.hoopy said:All their political correctness and walking-on-egg-shells hypersensitivity goes right out the window when they're talking about Japan. Cheese with you whine, sir?
I think the game looks great. Its made for the macro view, not this new fad where people get really close to walks and objects and take screens as proof that it sucks.
Game looks beautiful on ultra 1080 for me. Unfortunately it closes itself almost once an hour... But that's a different complaint.

Some people are just really ugly, I guess.

I tried to make one of my characters in Oblivion look like myself, and I ended up with something that looked like Mister Bean. WTF?
tetracycloide said:Morrowind’s leveling system is such a horrendous pain I’d would strongly advise using the console to mod yourself to level 30, 100 all skills and attributes, and health of some number I’m not 100% sure of (maybe 150ish? It’s been a while since I played and I cannot recall how much damage you take from things).
Wizardry said:You’re basically telling him to play Morrowind with the RPG removed. You are an evil RPG hater and will surely burn in hell.
vecordae said:I don’t understand why “role playing” and “monkeying around with complex mathematical abstractions as a form of character progression” are synonymous. I also don’t understand why “role playing” and “turn-based, small squad fantasy combat game” mean the same thing. I get that the CRPG as a genre has its roots in computer adaptations of pen and paper games, but I don’t understand why people gripe so much when it tries to do anything else.
TCM said:I am missing the part where “playing a role” is defined by “these numbers are higher than these numbers”.
TCM said:If a man’s heavy armor stat is 100, does that imply he is always going to use heavy armor, or will he choose to use light armor?
I dream of a day where role playing games are actually that — games where you play a role, rather than games where you crunch a number.

Maths =/= RPG. I’m not sure why they need to. And I do apologize if my questions generated any confusion. I do pay attention to what I read on the boards and dearest Wizardry’s given me the impression that, in order for an RPG to meet his (or her) standards, it needs to include most, if not all of the elements I mentioned. He’s not the only one who seems to feel this way, so I asked because I was genuinely curious as to why. Just because I don’t get it doesn’t mean it’s stupid.
TCM said:I never said you shouldn’t improve over time — I said that having numbers involved is pointless, there are other equally valid ranking systems, that could be much more immersive.
Hide the numbers, let me figure out how good I am at swinging a sword based on what people say about it.
Excidium said:This Wizardry dude must have some powergamed willpower.

Yeah, but hey, he goes where few would fear to go.
All that massive hit to INT damage is going to have some effect some day...
