I know this is an old topic but I just couldn't help myself. What are some of you guys talking about? Anomen is one of the best characters in BG, because he is such a faker and bragger that it's impossible to resist smashing his face with a hammer! Where else can you find such a character? He is completely different than Carth, because I really couldn't take Anomen seriously. I really think Bioware made him annoying on purpose. I still remember how I laughed when he was trying to hit on my female character. His tall stories were hilarious, and his background music fit in perfectly with his overshitting behaviour. In the end I decided to smash his face with a hammer. I see I wasn't the only one.

Besides you have more than enough characters to chose from and I for one am glad they included even annoying characters, because it just adds to diversity.

Good old days...

Imoen was annoyingly difficult to kill though.

Imoen can't be killed prior to the abduction... due to her special anti-slaying belt. :/
Maybe she can be killed with that lvl9 transformation Mindflayer spell?
That spell was THE last resort to kill any NPC that wasn't supposed to be killed, like the faggy mage that wanted Drizzt's swords back for example.

Anyway, BG2 is a good game.

BG2 is a good game, even with the terrible writing, lackluster story and the two most mindraping (commercial) NPCs ever. It's just that the combat, Athlatka design and scope is that awesome. I'd never call BG2 a classic though.

Speaking of Saerileth, playing IT is on the same level of bad dude as "are you a bad enough dude to hit your balls with a hammer?" It's THAT bad. Which is why I goatse/tubgirl/Sonic Passion spammed the shit out of their forum last week when no one was looking. It made me feel happy inside. Too bad no DRAMA came out of it, as I hoped.

So the games you classify as classics would be...

BG2 is not a little extreme by itself, and mods like Enchancements and Ascension make it even more X-TREME.

From that era, the Fallout series and PS:T.

As much as I love Fallout & PS:T, I've spent tons more hours having fun in BG2+expansion than those tree games put together. Bg2 is one of those games that not only is very fun to play, but which also takes very long to complete and has decent replayability.

BG 2 is a good party-based dungeon crawler. It's a shame the combat isn't turn-based.

Dear God, Merilinda is brilliant compared to this guy.
Actually, that's not even his original work. It's just a BG2 romance mod (the worst of them all, Saerileth) partially converted into Oblivion. Along with the Viconia flirtpack...

Those vids are just the tip of the iceberg.

or actually - the only great (or good) game Bioware has ever developed.

BG2 = only great game Bioware developed.
KOTOR = was ok.

Everything else they made = who gives a flying fuck?
Most overrated games developer, ever. Period

That would be Troika on the Codex. Actually, not true. that be Spiderweb. 'Cause at leats Troika made fun games. SW games ar ejust plain old fahsion shit.

Most oevrrated dveloper ever is Bethesda though followed by Blizzard.

BIO has made more awesome agmes than Troika has made games. BG1, BG2, NWN, JE, and ME. All fuckin' awesome.

Period.

You want to make a 200hour+ game last 500hours?

BG2 is not 200 hours long. That's bullshit.

Well - if you do only the main quest it's not, but if you do all the sidequests + the expansion it must be damn close...

Not even remotely. Baldur's Gate 2 is seriously ~60-80 hours at most.

Well the whole trilogy must be close to 150-200 h. Oh, and Volly.. ME is not half as good as KOTOR or NWN for that matter. It's really by far the worst Bioware game I have played so far, but even like that it still manages to beat 90% of other games that come out lately, which just proves in what a sorry state PC gaming is atm. I haven't played JE yet.

1. BG 2 is not that long.
2. The more, the merrier.
3. I hate RTwP.

If all the filler combat in BG 2 was removed, it wouldn't last any longer with turn-based combat than it does now with RTwP...

I was a late entry to the world of RPG. Baldur's gate 2 was the first RPG I played. Prior to that, my favorite games were old Lucasarts adventures (Monkey Island 1 and 2, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Day of the Tentacle, The Dig) and X-Com series (first two games). I was driven away from RPGS back in early 90s when I tried to play Eye of the Beholder, and I hated it. However, after 10 more years I took up Baldur's gate 2 and I really liked it, which promted me to give other RPGs a try. Despite its numerous flaws, Baldur's gate 2 is a very good game, with nice atmosphere. Although the characters are one-dimensional and some are really annoying, I still enjoy the fact that there are numerous banters between them and the PC. Baldur's Gate 2 is even better when right mods and tweaks are installed (of the top of my head, Unfinished Business, The Longer Road and Tashia mod, plus G3 Tweak pack). In terms of size, BG2 is perfect. I consider it a suitable entry to the RPG world, before moving on to more serious and intelectually demanding games like Fallout or unsurpassable Planescape: Torment. Considering Bioware's games, BG2 is in my top 10 RPGs, BG1 was below average, NWN1 was really bad (expansions were playable), KOTOR was playable and I haven't played the rest.

Anyone that actually thinks of playing through any custom NPC's especially the romanceble ones really should check out DarthMordechai's Worst of the Worst threads

Here's the second part of it, where he also sums up top 10 worst mods he played, and in the first post there's a link to first part of Worst of the Worst

And Vaarna-Aarne, nice job on the saerileht forums with the goatse-tubgirl spam, they really deserved it :D
