Someone should make adventure games in Bioshock settings. So much good artwork and sets going to waste for some mediocre shooter.
This. So much this. Bioshock settings has lots of potential for an adventure game, point n click or rpg or combat-lite anything but a genre that is predisposed to going around and shooting everything that moves.

It kinda worked in the first one since gameplay was basically a streamlined version of System Shock 2's gameplay, thus the shooting felt natural. Then Bioshock 2 basically ruined it and now the series is following the same path of LA Noire with presenting two different protagonists; Ace-investigator Booker DeWitt as he dives deep into the underbelly of a majestic flying city to find a young girl, and Murderous Psychopath Booker DeWitt as he guns down scores of men with callous indifference.

Such a missed opportunity with the city overall; after the first 10 minutes it devolves into a never-ending shoot fest, the few times you meet non-hostiles you can't really interact with any of them (except shoot them of course, lolol).

A Bioshock adventure game could be ace, this was simply mediocre.

Would probably be a good game if you could take the world seriously, it's just really hard to do it. You go from one extreme to another waaaay to fast and too often. 10 min of gameplay for the debate class, 10 for the jocks, 10 for the drama club then mix them up for the greater good. Racism is bad, brutal slaughter, "oh how could you kill those people", back to brutal slaughter, step behind a register alerts police, slaughter everything in sight a bit later and nothing happens.
The new trademark of AAA titles, throw everything into the mix and don't focus on anything properly because you might alienate some part of the audience.

I have 1,200 bucks and died a couple of time, but it is still ridiculously easy, sorry. This is nowhere near the Impossible difficulty in SS2.
you are officially FULL OF SHIT! HOW THE FUCK do you beat the last wave in the good time club, where you at first have to fight against two turret missiles, and one walking turret missile with infinite health and then two FUCKING BALLON TURRETS at the same time as you lower the health of the walking missile turret, killing you in ONE second if you expose yourself to fire, which you will because it is impossible to find cover fucking ANYWHERE. Seriously, show me how you beat this "ridiculously easily", upload a fucking video. Or you will be forever known as a twatty liar. I've user 10 lives and have had to reload 4 times by now, doing the entire fucking longass fight over and over again, and I am FUCKING PISSED

:x:x:x

seriously? How did the developers expect that this would be beatable?

So far I have this tactic: As the wave starts, I wait where the turrets pop out, and take them out immediatly as they pop out with a grenade launcher, I then run around like a maniac, trying to dodge the walking turret while blasting him with the rocket launcher and the grenade launcher, until those fucking balloons appear, where I get flanked from three sides, while dying in one second. I then use all my remaining lives to die. FUCK. How can you beat this?

Edit: A fuck, I forgot I had possession ^_^ that might just help! Brb, gonna try it now.

I used the grenade and rocket launcher, which I guess they intended us to use, since both were found within the room. As for vigor I used bucking bronco which is great for taking out the crow and other humanoids, and then I was finally able to beat the last wave by possessing the ballon turrets a couple of time making them kill themselves, and then finally blasting the motorized patriot with the rocket launcher and grenade launcher until he died.

An item that is really invaluable, and also kind of overpowered, is the one that grants you immunity for a couple of seconds after consuming a health item

Must know Josh Sawyer's list of great films.
Brazil and Miller's Crossing are still my favorites. Other top films: The Mission, Road Warrior, The Thing, The Duellists, Escape From New York, A Very Long Engagement, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, Orlando, Blade Runner, Alien, Aliens, and Dancer in the Dark.

COD is pretty hard at veteran too, but that doesn't make it a good game
Doesn't make it a bad game either... What's your point?

I'm not nearly as taken back by the story as the other reviewers, but I like the gameplay: As a shooter, it is faaar superior to Bioshock. And in 1999 mode, I have been starving for resources, which is rewarding in itself.

I haven't been starved at all so far, maybe it's gonna suddenly become 2x harder and the resources are halved later in the game.
Btw, starved for resources means you turn "every stone" in the level, constantly swap weapons and still barely scrap by. So far I wasn't even forced to buy ammo and only once I had to drop a gun because I ran out of ammo for it. Borderlands had me worry a LOT more about resources than BI on 1999.

That's exactly where I am, I'm down to 37 bucks after the last boss fight, I can't die even once, and I am short on ammo. In borderlands I didn't have to worry about this at all, since it was overflowing with money, you only had the occasional annoyance where you had to go back to a vending machine to buy ammo. Furthermore, all of the resources in the game comes from the currency, all vigor and weapons upgrades, the number of attempts you get before having to reload from the last checkpoint, and vigor/health/ammo resources. Thus you have to use your money very wisely, and it seems to me that you can never have everything.

Somebody here mentioned that you can only carry 2 weapons? Seeing as even in Bioshock 1 you could carry all weapons at once this is a clear proof of :decline:. The fact that your wallet has a max size was a good thing because otherwise my hoarder instinct would kick in and i would finish the game with 10k $ this way at least i could go on a spending spree whenever i approached 500$ so overall i did not have a lack of resources in bio1 except at the very beginning.

So apparently this game includes the same awful story-telling mechanic as Bioshock where everyone leaves their innermost thoughts lying around on tape recorders for the protagonist to pick up. So much for gameplay evolution...
Not to mention all the money and food everywhere. People of Columbia certainly live in abundance.
Yeah it sort of made sense for the crazy splicer guys in Bioshock to throw money or ammo in the trash or where ever, but apparently normal people in a 1912 floating city throw money in the trash because why the fuck not. It sort of takes the bite out of the social commentary to have a guy complaining about not getting paid enough to scrub floors when I fished $30 out of a dustbin not 5 feet away from him. Or maybe Ken Levine is a secret conservative, if only that whiny floor scrubber would stop crying for government handouts like a living wage and pull himself up by his bootstraps and start scrounging in every container in the city while indiscriminately murdering everyone he would have all the money/vapors/weapon upgrades he could ever want.

Yes. Not allowing you to carry two pistols, two machine guns one bazooka one grenade launcher and one sniper rifle all of the same time, which is first of all fucking unrealistic, and second of all removes all need for planning, is clearly a sign of decline.

Indeed, just like with Diablo 3 skills, right? :)

Bioshock 1 leaned more towards classic fps instead of CoD type so i expected them to continue that tradition by allowing us to carry 10 weapons at once, if they put 2 weapons the first time i would be ok with that.

So does bioshock infinite. But what COD did by not allowing you to carry all of the games weapons at once at all times, was an incline.

It's not, because Citizen Kane was not the BioShock Infinite moment the film industry is waiting for.
