There's a point when feedback should not be taken into consideration. This is one of those times. Romances are a waste of resources and time. These morons should go play a visual novel or something if they want a pretend relationship.
Yeah well the grognards didn't bite in sufficient numbers so they have to appeal to more people.

Can't imagine why, it had everything you need. Look at the cock fountain, hurr durr.

Romances, hmm not my cup of tea in GAMES, true. But, just checked the survey.

I dont see they are saying anywhere they WANT to focus a lot on just romances. Its ONE of the many many things they listed. Sure its highlighted in their original long post, your right . Still , the survey doesnt feature it that much .

So I started playing Black Geyser, around 5 hours in, exploring Isilbright and its surroundings.

I already have a full party (PC as a human templar + dorf fighter, elf thief, Bjaal sorceress and cleric with tusks), everyone is around level 5.

So far its fun, brings back a lot of good memories from late 90s, but also very easy despite playing on the second highest difficulty (the one after Courier). Early combats from Baldur's Gate 1, which this game seeks to emulate, were much more challenging. Nobody died yet, I have tons of consumables because spells and sleeping in taverns are enough to keep my team healthy.

Does it get more difficult later on?

It actually get easier later on, some spells are absurd and can end encounters right at the start.
Though same can be said for fireball in BG1 I guess.

Yeah, but BG still had tough fights despite the existence of spells like fireball.

In Black Geyser the combat is already easy (despite my sorceress repeatedly jumping into the fray with her laughable stick), so I can't imagine how can it become even less of a hurdle.

There was some major balance pass like 2-3 months ago, end game was supposed to be harder. And mid game easier (?). IDK, waiting for next update to properly start playing.

Thank you for confirming my suspicion that this last "balance pass" did little to nothing to significantly increase the difficulty of the game. Randomly saw it on a nice sale yesterday and was thinking of finally getting it, but this information saved me from doing so yet again. I could tolerate the other flaws if the game provided a decent challenge. What a shame.

After Tarnesh on the steps of the Friendly Arms, I didn't find combat in BG1 that was overly taxing after downing a potion of heroism and having a party of archers. The final battle was a bit of a strain with all those traps, but still nothing overly difficult.

Same goes for Black Geyser. It gets more difficult, but a smart player won't be wiping much sweat off their brow.

So I played another 5 hours (a total of 10), my party reached levels 8-9. Did a lot of sidequests and explored the western side of the map.

I've encountered some more difficult combats - not really dangerous, but at least demanding a proper spell selection. As the penalty for companion's death is pretty harsh (loss of all gear if you do not resurrect him/her on the spot and I don't have proper spells for that) so I try not to lose anyone.

The game really nails the atmosphere though. Visuals, music, dialogues, exploration - everything brings you back to the simpler, a bit naive age of the original Baldur's Gate. In this they succeeded 100%.

Yeah, I played a couple of hours this weekend, as well. The first few hours are pretty great.

I hope it doesn't have any bugs. That would be the only buzzkill.

You got me. I was hoping for no technical bugs. Or glitches.
More giggle-worthy: I am playing one of those summoners, and I am able to summon all sorts of bugs. Which is why I actually laughed out loud at your comment.

Some people compare it with Pillars. IMO this game is much better than pillars. And when the DLC will gonna launch? I wanna my ice golem and wanna it ASAP.

Don't know if they launch. I've read the company is in financial troubles and will run some crowdfunding operations to produce the expansion for the base game.

Sad because they actually brought something NEW to the table(greed mechanic) and brought the IE fell back in a much better way than Pillars...

Comparing it to Pillars is unfair to Pillars. Black Geyser is so easy that the game basically plays itself. In Pillars at least I need to put *some* thought into how to actually play the game.
