OK, I'm online and on Steam. Message me when you'd like to play (or with info regarding the time). I might be away from the PC for a few minutes, of course, but I'll be checking the message box periodically.

edit: eh, turns out I have to go back to linux to do some work. Anyway, PM me or sth!

Exmit, I've sent You a PM with info about when I can play this week.

It will be a real refreshment to play against a team with no Dodge. Damn Ghouls and Amazons.

Yeah this was a fun match.

Going in the match I saw that 500-600 TV stronger Chaos team and I was WTF, you can't be serious! It didn't turn out the massacre I thought it would, but even Count Luthor von Drakenborg couldn't make the difference. It was close though on a few occasions, I think, I had successful actions clearing the way to the ball but unsuccessful blitzes at the ball carrier. Of course, a few mistakes I really should know better to not do. Boba Fett kneecapped a Chaos Warrior, how awesome :) 2-1, GG WP 'Phoenix.

Nice one.

For a moment there I thought that Demnogonis is going to win the match and deprive me of my shadow of a hope to advance to the playoffs. Luckily, no such thing happened, so now I can deprive myself of it by losing to Exmit.

Anyway, good match, Demnogonis, surprisingly even for the TV difference between the teams.

0rkz vs Khemri is finished. Two bashy teams have played a very unspectacular match in which there was only one casualty (immediately regenerated) and two KOs, despite an abundance of Block, Mighty Blow and even some fouls and crowd-surfing. Nuffle was very merciful this evening. Or bored, as the match got 9/20 rating.

Replay is here.

Wow. That was a really good game. Demnogonis, I was really impressed by your play with Vampires. Great use of Hypnotic Gaze. Count Luthor is a beast - it was fun to see him runnin' around.

Least Valuable Player *has* to go to ITZ Fluffy, who failed a TON of Wild Animals.

Great game guys.

:decline: indeed!

I played some friendly dane yesterday who smashed my Lizardfolk with a +1STR Orc Blitzer. He seemed like the friendly sort and also had some friends who players. Perhaps he'll take a look at this here thread, and we might get a couple of more stable players for next season.

(people who forfeit for almost any reason should die in a fire)

The last round in Group 2 looks really exciting. Apart from UPhoenix & grotty, four teams can make it to the cup stage yet! Let's see how can it finish:

myself - 12 points, 8-6 in TDs, playing Exmit. I need a win to be sure of play-offs, a draw means Mico must draw or lose also, or Grunker lose. I can also lose by one TD, then Mico or Grunker must lose (Grunker by more than one TD).
Grunker - 12 points, 9-7 in TDs, playing Demnogonis. Almost the same as with me - but he's got more TDs, so (I think) he wins the tie-breaker. Still, he'd better not lose.
Mico Selva - 12 points, but 5-5 in TDs and playing grotsnik. He's got the toughest opponent, so his chances are a bit smaller then mine and Grunker's. Even if he wins, he might not get into post-season (unless he does by 3 TDs margin, which is rather unlikely). With a draw, he needs either me or Grunky losing. A loss kicks him out (again, unless Grunker loses by three).
Exmit - 9 points, 6-7, my opponent. He's in the worst spot, but with a bit of luck can still get to the playoffs. He needs to a) win against me with 2 TD margin b) hope that Grunker or Mico loses (Grunky by 2 TDs).
and last but not least - Elwro, whom I forgot to mention earlier. He has 10 points, 6-7 in TDs, and is pitted against Pussycat (WE). He has to secure a win, plus he needs two of three things to happen: Mico must lose or draw, Grunker must lose, I must lose.

can't wait!

...so I was looking through last season's thread, hoping to find some inspiration for future match reports, since they've been sadly in short supply this season on my part, and look what I found!

Well, I've tried a test match with my team vs the AI and first impressions are not good. Got drawn up against an Ogre team and, well, I think I can safely say that although I won - I didn't have a team by the end of the match. 1 dead Beastman, 2 -ST injuries to Beastmen and 1 to a Warrior, 1 niggling to a Beastman and 1 Warrior badly hurt. No block, only 3 St 4 players, fragile AV8 with no apothecary and no ball handling skills in sight. If this game happened in the Codex league, well, I'd be using star players from game 2 onwards. Why oh why did I decide to pick Chaos?

Heh. Why indeed.

Great write-up of the group 2 playoff picture, hover. I was looking at that myself last night - a very exciting race for those last 2 spots!!! Good luck to all four of you, and also to those of you who are trying to play the spoiler.

Does anyone know how playoff pairings are done? Is it the standard 1-4, 2-3 like in every other sport? I remember (as a spectator) that last season didn't follow that format, but I couldn't figure out what rules it used.

Hey if my forfeit with Gorefiend didn't go through yet, I ended up being sick and not going out of town, so I am available to play in the next few days.

Hasn't gone through yet so play your match. (Unless some other admin has done it)

I generally don't set a score until all other matches have been played.

Purely from observation it seems the play-offs are completely and totally fucking random. The top 8 players are placed in a bucket and pair up. At least that is what it looked like last season - we had people from the same group play each other again before the grand final (Grotsnik Vs Exmit from memory, I think Grotty is still bitter).

Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised after the final round and I can see some rhymn or reason to the pairings but knowing Cyanide I am not holding my breath.

EDIT: Now that I think about it I believe I can seed the teams going into the finals so that might be something you guys want to think about. IF THAT IS THE CASE:

This is what I am leaning towards.

A1 Vs B4
A2 Vs B3
A3 Vs B2
A4 Vs B1

Where A is group 1 and B is group 2 and number was your ranking in your group.

I would prefer some cross pollination of groups before we get to the grand final to be honest which is why I ordered it this way AND in theory A1 and B1 will only meet each other in the Grand Final.

Lemme know what you guys think

If you do it this way, in theory it could be all group A (or B) teams left after the first round, so an entire group could be eliminated from the competition right away. I know you wanted some cross-pollenation, but keeping it segregated is the only way to ensure an A vs B final. (assuming that's what we want)

I think this seeding would be reasonable. We don't really need to have A vs B final - the best teams should get there, whatever group they are from.

Yeah, that was a pretty cool match, the 19/20 rating is well deserved, with the last touchdown especially worth seeing.

I was impressed with the difference Leap makes on a Gutter Runner. Great way of getting out of crowd clusterfucks, especially when it works as well as in this match.
