The size is 40x20 instead of 40x16, it is by design.

That looks worse, your original one was the best i think, due to fore and background contrast.
with each iteration, you're reducing that further :)

It looks like a nuke in the middle of an illegible white background, wtf is wrong with you people. Make the digits actually visible, otherwise half the posts in GD are going to sport this blurry atrocity below their profiles.

Try a dark background (with dark bluish hints) with a luminous orange cloud like that, but only include the number 23 under it with a perspective skew to make the numbers look as if they're lying flat in front of the cloud. The lighting on the numbers should seem as if it's coming from the cloud.

Ask for clarification if necessary. I doubt I'd be able to do this myself as I don't have Gimp currently installed so that I could smartly resize images with a minimum of quality loss.

I'm sure something better can be done.
My idea was just to use the "Nuke it from orbit" rating, I had fun doing it, I didn't have fun tweaking it. The readability was still very valid criticism and it's better now. That's my final submission.

Somebody is free to draw another badge, using the same idea or something completely different.
