Watched it again, I really like it. Only thing I dislike is that this killer-psycho bitch apparently gets killed. Looks kinda cool in the trailer.

Shes' not killed, she's reprogrammed, shaved bald, and turned into another Psych-squad member

Haha, so in this thread we find out that the majority of the Codex thinks a moody atmospheric rock song ought to be replaced by The Godfather or anime cliches. Cool.

How many people realize that their replacement songs are more derivative than the original? The classic piece some guy posted was especially groan-inducing.

My motivation for replacing the soundtrack was that the pop-rock original was painful to listen to.

You guys should really listen to some actual emo tracks.

For starters, I never used the word 'emo' to describe that thing. Whether it's emo is irrelevant - it's horrible garbage is what it is. And calling it "moody" and/or "atmospheric" is simply preposterous.

The point still stands: practically all of your "fixes" are even worse.

I took me less than 5 minutes to think of a 'better' alternative, and I would assume that was true for everyone else as well. I highly doubt CDP only thought for 5 minutes about what song to put into the trailer, and if I had spent the same time as they did, I would have definitely chosen something more fitting to the pacing etc of the whole deal. The point still stands that the final effect of their extended planning for the music for the trailer is just as half-arsed as the 5-minute hackjobs done in this thread.

lol, I was trying to figure out what your suggestion was and it was a low-budget midi-based track from a 90s action game. Cool.

Your answer isn't as bad as some others, but it's also not that much different from the actual track used. It's just that the track used is better.

Ok, here's my upgrade to the original shitty emo track:

Don't know how to graft it over the original video or I'd be all on that.

Goddamn. I am not really in the mood to play "sayz U" and "it's just your opinion mang" all over again. I simply get a different vibe - it just works for me and many others outside of Codex I know (in before someone other goes "trololololol - U haz shit taste". Yeah, like anyone except two people showed any taste in music in this thread  ). To me it's just seems that by doing all that half-assery the Codex cannot simply point a finger at what's wrong in it and certainly doesn't have the slightest clue how to "fix" it.

For all that whining about stupid commercial there was only one person - Hellraiser - who presented a valid alternative without resorting to hubris and general demagoguery. Damn shame it was wishful thinking again: judging things for what they are not instead of what they are (we here just love that - myself inculded). The rest can be summerised thus: "I don't like it, duh".

Can we be done with it already? Judging from the amount of butthurt the teaser - a commercial like any other - generated here it appears that it was super-effective. :P

Ironic, innit?

For all the shit they receive, CDP seem to excel at generating buzz over here without even trying. 10 pages for a trailer that shows fuck all? It's like that one time they pretended to shut down GOG and Codex was all "waaah super lame PR stunt" - now it's a partnersite and everyone here buys their abandonware from them.

Can we be done with it already? It appears to be that for the amount of butthurt the teaser - a commercial like any other - generated here we can conclude that it was super-effective. :P

1) I honestly don't get your "wishful thinking" bit here (that's ignoring the contradictory "judging things for what they are not instead of what they are") . I elaborated on what I find wrong with this teaser from a conceptual and editing point of view. The musical choice, even if for me it simply sounds generic and a bit bland, could have worked if CDP/Baginski's team didn't insist on the slow-mo. The vocals are too energetic/dynamic for that for one. It just doesn't mesh well with the flow of of events on the screen even if they did put a few sudden editing jumps into it. I don't see how that is related to wishful thinking at all.

2) I never saw this much complaining about a song used in a trailer, and not just on the codex at that. CDP definitely did something wrong here. There's a reason Zimmer in movies and Soule in games have became so prevalent, they're safe picks (another sign of the no risk taking environment in the industry) that don't cause negatives opinions other than "meh it's Soule again, he's so bland now". In the Cyberpunk 2077 teaser's case even if I go to some idiot-infested cesspool like the gamefaqs forums I see a several "music ruined this" "ugh the music" etc. in reaction to this teaser/trailer. It is polarizing even for the dumbfuckery of the gamer masses and that's something you want to avoid if you're doing promotional material.

?

It looks exactly stereotypically badass to me 's why I hate the design on this.

untitled1bejop.png

really?

I think the reason why this helmet appears to be derpy is because the lenses are just too far apart from the mans nose which probably explains why his head is cocked to one side so he can see through the right lens; I suppose those external lenses could be channeled through to more aligned inner lenses but it still looks outwardly :retarded:.

On closer inspection his face has some Rob Liefeld shit going on right side of lips longer than left even while left jaw is much longer but more recessed at the same time

Contradictory? I find it suplemental.

I elaborated on what I find wrong with this teaser from a conceptual and editing point of view. The musical choice, even if for me it simply sounds generic and a bit bland, could have worked if CDP/Baginski's team didn't insist on the slow-mo. The vocals are too energetic/dynamic for that. I take you are an expert here, because you appear to know a lot about that stuff (I am not being sarcastic) so I recognise your criticism. All I know is it worked for me, so they might actually be doing something right... For instance I find the dissonance between energetic vocals and slow-mo to create a sort of assymetric balance - they are simingly out of place, but when you look at the entire composition it just logically "clicks" together. After being subjected to derrogatory opinions here I discussed this issue with a couple of people I know and they generally agree, so at least I know I am not going nuts.

It is polarizing even for the dumbfuckery of the gamer masses and that's something you want to avoid if you're doing promotional material.

And that criticism is usually in the vein of "duh, I didn't like it", "not enough action/shooting/explosions", "shit music I don't understand."

One more thing, I can accept opposing opinions, provided that they are well-argued and constructive, like yours. However, seeing the reverse-Biodrone worthy circlejerk that's happening in front of my eyes here is just too much to bear.

Or when they released a free patch that wasn't actually free despite being free because fucking kangaroo bandwidth :troll:

I don't see any complaining outside of the Codex. Leads me to believe you're just a bunch of whiny cunts.

I guess you didn't expect anyone to actually look this up, but I did a search of the Gamefaqs forums for complaints...

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/916373-pc/65146172

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/916373-pc?search=cyberpunk

Good luck finding three comments that say the music was bad or ruined the trailer. Everyone seems to be saying that the LACK OF GAMEPLAY ruined the trailer.

Gamefaqs? Looking for gameplay footage. The Codex? Whining about music choice.

Way to be. :greatjob:
