Adam Smasher was much better in the cartoon his boss battle in the game is way too easy.

The show really delivers on the gore. People's heads exploding with brain bits flying all around. Guts getting eviscerated. Blood implosions. People getting beheaded. Open surgery of body. Shit's wild. Only an1mes I saw where they didn't hold back on that kind of gore was Gantz and Elfen Lied.

Not sure if I already mentioned it in this thread but that really weirded me out since it's Studio Trigger. Even Kill la Kill with it's constant near nudity was wholesome. Edgerunners is pure degeneracy (the fun kind)

Does the game world feel more alive now? Has anything been changed in that regard? It always struck odd at how little you could actually interact with anything or anyone in Night City.

check out Genocyber
90's was full of gorey ovas, the challenge is finding something that has that level of gore after 2010s; your animu facebook group probably has a list with Genocyber, Kite and the usual stuff but they don't know 'bout Zombie Shoujo.

From what i know there were changes in certs for japanese public tv which killed a lot of that stuff.

Yeah that's something I noticed as well.
Trigger went out of their way to make Night City as filthy and violent as possible, and given the subject matter it's pretty brilliant.
Even the main characters aren't exactly lawful good leaning, if you get my drift. Even David goes off the deep end later on, and he was the most normal out of all of them.

I mean, Lucy was about to murder David the first time they met and Maine's crew were seriously considering killing him to get the Sandy back. Night City is rough, it seems.

Up until today i thought Elite:Dangerous was the best VR game.
Well that changed Luke Ross released VR mod for C77 and it is absolutely mindblowing shit.
Minitutorial: put files with bat into exe folder of game and run bat. when you play game next time it will run via steamvr.

The reason why Elite was such a good VR game was that Frontier managed to perfectly set scale of world so when you were near planet it was perceived by your eyes as humongous that it is hard to wrap your mind around that something so big can exist.

I played many VR mods and VR games and they always had issues with scale when compared to Elite.

This time that dude blew Elite out of the fucking water. Scale is perfect on all ranges. From megabuildings terrific sizes to small people beneath them to distance view where you feel that city background is actually huge rather than jpeg in background

There is some jank but it is perfectly playable. It does require powerful rig though so without something like 3060 ot 3070 you shouldn't even try it.

What's AMD's performance like when it comes to VR? How would a RX 6800 do?

Enough for medium/high details for sure especially with FSR. I have 3080 and i was using 2400x2400 resolution with DLSS on max detail and i was getting from 30 to 60fps. With medium around 50-70fps. Resolution is the biggest performance killer so with something like 1600x1600 it should run a lot fucking better. That being said this is the first time i saw how crisp Quest 2 screen can get. IDK what Luke did but this is easily the best looking VR game in therms of scale, detail, crispness etc.

Watching Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and I had the thought that CD Projekt Red could've saved themselves a lot of money, and probably could've sold just as much (maybe more) if 2077 looked like that show. They spent all that money, and couldn't even get a bunch of shit working right on release...which ended up completely fucking them. But, they could've made an open world game that looks like Kill la Kill - IF, (which can run on the SWITCH) they could've done pedestrians like Persona 5 does, and got all the mechanics and systems working right and people probably would've loved it and it most likely wouldn't have cost CD Projekt nearly as much to make. Was thinking about that while watching the show and just found it kind of funny.

Making a game with 90s style anime cyberpunk aesthetic and ultraviolence would have been neat, yes. The whole "realistic" 3rd graphic open world thing probably seemed more marketable though because a lot of games have already done it.
I mean, remember Mad World? That game was stylish and ultraviolent as fuck. Banger soundtrack too.

Due to recent surge C77 went from 15th place to 10th place on nexus mods. Looks like redmod they released did change things + additional people playing.

That is funny and interesting. I wouldn't mind if the game had the aesthetics / low detail graphics like Oni (except terrible level design). Problem with Cyberpunk is bloated items, skills are mostly there for "muh RPG elements" and as a result unsatisfactory gameplay. Art style wouldn't affect much; not even if Bob Ross drew some joyful skyscrappers and happy Johny Silverhands there.

Having said that, wish somebody make an open world Cyberpunk game with Oni's combat and Mirror's Edge parkour system.

The game still has more graphical errors than Witcher 3, at least for my money. Never really noticed anything in Witcher 3, whereas in my 30 hours of playing there's been a good deal of stuff in Cyberpunk. Like, Carol's hair is fucked in every scene (stretches beyond the screen), enemies T-pose once in a while, shit like that.

I don't really mind, but it certainly speaks to a more bothered development than TW3.

It's amazing how context can change perception of something. This was part of ost that i didn't really care much for from C77 ost. But in edgerunners it was used perfectly so much so that it became one of top 3 pieces in whole OST for me. And i don't really like this style in first place.

I was wondering the exact same thing a few days ago. The music on 77's radio stations were entirely uninteresting to me, but once used in a meaningful way, gaining context, shit suddenly shines like a star.

CDPR could easily have had an instant classic on their hands if they went the hub route ala Deus Ex. They could hit CP2077's story and characterization high notes without the repetitive non-linear shooter/looter gameplay getting in the way like too much bread to butter over.

Their focus should have been a step by step cohesive, linear RPG without too much mindless Borderlands gameplay or janky driving getting in the way. If they delivered a more directed/crafted affair with a steady cast of characters organically involved in a lengthier primary storyline leveraging all of CP2077's strengths most of the complaints we saw wouldn't have got off the ground.

There are moments of genius in CP2077 but they're scattered amongst so much dross you forget they happened in the first place.
