So I finally realized there was a kind of in-game encyclopedia which somewhat explains some things.

Armor, according to it, reduces incoming DPS by 1 per 10 armor points (why have 2 values like that instead of making armor = incoming dps reduction? lol).

So my 200 armor right now give me... 20 dps reduction. My own weapons do like 200 dps for ranged and 350 or whatever dps for my hammer. Not optimized at all in terms of build because of how awkward the leveling is for some things, but hm.

Wonder what enemy dps is.

This at least explains why I did not notice a difference when literally doubling my armor from 90 to 180 with that 90 armor arm implant.

Also found a legendary defender lmg on a cyberpsycho which has 2 mod slots. Can only use 1 slot though because even if I select the second to add a mod to, it just changes the first... No matter what type of mod I try to use.

Hrm.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Another thing that Codexers need to realize is that any RPG combat system which allows player skill to influence a character's success is fundamentally flawed. Can someone name a FPS RPG that hasn't had god awful combat? It doesn't exist because it's not possible to balance gun play with character stats without bullet sponges being common throughout the game. Even ARPGs where it's easier to balance melee combat with stats are mostly trash.

Lurking around reddit I found most peoples reaction to the game are painfull denial at best a lot of them say words like" I'm content with the game, It's not perfect but it's good, I'm happy with my game etc etc ..."
That feels like trying real hard to convince themselves, that this here is the best thing since ketchup was invented, instead facing reality that it's at the very best a medicore game in every aspect not just the buggy release.

I mean the game is literary unfinished not just buggy, feels like whatever they were trying to create was scrapped at least once but probably more over almost a decade,
if i'd have to guess the real developement on this turd has begone only in the last two years.
Funny how people keep puting down Witcher 3 as being worse than this just to justify the game to themselves and everyone else, those same people that always said Witcher 3 was the best thing ever.
Feels like Mass Effect Andromeda all over again, but that at least tanked right on release day.
This was hyped up to such lengths that it feels really like smoke and mirrors, they really used their goodwill with gamers to the fullest. (mine included)
Pretty much Bioware all over again. Since people are too slow to register they are being shit on, CDPR still has like maybe two games in them before they join Bioware on the shit list.

Liking it so far, only issues so far are some clipping and NPCs going thru shit. AI seems pretty dumb, kinda like Beth's level of AI. I am playing on Ultra with no Motion Blur and on very hard and seems to be running pretty good with no prob. Only when I first load in I get texture pop or whatever. I really dislike some of the controls tho.

Is it better to do the main quest for a while and then do the side quests or can I do side quests all the way? I used to do all side quests in Witcher 3 and then do the main quest if the level isn't too high so I am wondering if I should keep doing the side quests and familiarize myself with the game before the main quest.

Edit:
Oh not sure about this but from time to time I see items that can be lootables but not being able to loot them, that's really sucks if its a bug.

People really going ape shit against this game because of bugs, CDPR probably shouldn't have bothered with the dicks and vaginas and just left that to the modders and they dedicated more time to bug fixing or something instead.

Regardless of Codex opinion on Cyberpunk, I think we can all agree Reddit is cancerous. Half the posts are bitching that it's a bad RPG because you can't play on arcade machines or dance.

Others are bitching that the character development is bad because the skill tree gives you lots of bonuses instead of new Far Cry style finishers and "exciting" kill animations.

Meanwhile posts referencing actual issues like itemisation get buried by "muh arcade machines"

The NuDooms, they have enough stupid upgrades to classify as an RPG.

Being an RPG doesn't mean you have to have health and damage that exponentially increase as the game goes on, the actual pnp game this is supposed to be based on didn't have motherfucking diablo loot tables.

Hogwash. Just look at a 3gun champ vs beginning competitor.
You can just use reality as a guide and abstract as necessary... Like a lot of old RPG sytems tried to do (DND melee for example. Fell short due to lack of knowledge and being a pnp system without a computer to calculate things for the players, but they tried).

Real issue is game devs can't be bothered to learn how shit actually works so they have a starting point to abstract from.

ARPGs (depends on what you mean by that) started off with shit systems (diablo) and everybody is just copying that shit brainlessly.

RE: complaints about constantly replacing gear - are we just gonna ignore the fact that you can upgrade your existing gear? And so basically just the same gear the whole game if you want?
You realize upgrading gets more and more expensive and has a worse stat curve than finding/crafting the same gun with a higher base level, right?

It makes sense to upgrade a few times, but again, it's mostly just dumb busiwork.

And I'm not sure how having the same gear from the start to the end of the game (same ratty assault rifle you find all game, for example) but with better and better dps (off-set by enemy leveling of the exact same set of enemies from start to finish as well) is somehow a good thing.

Major parts of the progression in this game are just pointless additions to waste your time.
So you're unhappy about the game giving you new gear, and you're unhappy about the option to keep your existing gear.

Ok.

first off, lmao at all the dumbasses being like "WOOOOOOOOOOOOW MY CHARACTER GETS BETTER AT A THING AS I LEVEL UP THAT SKILL???" I thought this was the RPG codex.

I admit I was too hasty to write off silenced weapon stealth. Yes, growing in power is obviously an RPG staple, but usually you're not so completely inept at a thing as to make it impossible for a handful of levels. I think hard mode might have had something to do with it, but in the early levels I couldn't kill anything with a silenced headshot, so all the enemies were alerted immediately every time. Putting in a few more hours tonight though, searching the city for the best revolver and upgrading it and getting a few more perks, suddenly I'm one-shotting everything from the shadows and having a great time doing it. Also it seems you can shut down cameras even with minimum level intelligence and the starting cyberdeck, which is all I need to do.

So... sorry Cyberpunk. I still think you have many flaws I will rant about later, and the main missions shoving you into combat is lame-o, but your pistol stealth is much better than I thought.
All the good reviews mention this aspect so you haven't been paying attention.

why did they choose this type of itemization? is this some multiplayer thing?

It's identical to The Witcher 3's itemisation more or less. So either laziness or they like that style.

The kids all love those stupid loot games these days, so probably to appeal to them.

How's the combat? Anything other than complete trash?
I'm kind of enjoying it but it is fairly popamole. Hardest difficulty. I like that, at the start, you can basically use any approach and get XP for it. Then you specialise later. It gives you a chance to experiment. It's definitely not 'realistic' combat. It's more systems-based, what makes it interesting is the approach and the execution (that you choose) rather than any kind of gritty realism.

Minor thing, but I am baffled at their design of the in-car radio

What is wrong with it?
Hold R to open up the radio menu, select station with F, then unpause to start listening.
You know instead of just pressing a button to swap through the stations like in GTA and friends.
PC controls seem like even more of an afterthought than they were for Fallout 4. Awkward all around with awfully limited rebinding. Right from character creation it's clear. Certainly rules out driving.

Watching a stream. If you're in combat with a huge number of enemies, just hide behind some cover. You can see through walls and the enemies will just stand there indefinitely waiting for you to pop out instead of rushing you. It's pretty bad when Fallout 3 has better enemy AI.

I thought I'd seen the "Hacking" which is really just reskinned magic somewhere before, and it makes it all clear:

Someone gave them the wrong PnP RPG.

Ironically, those sensitive fucks are the ones who are encouraging people to pull the trigger.
Guess they never heard of older Kojima games, with gun-eating old Snake... or the suicide booths in Futurama.

Hmm... People, what is your experience with the combat AI? So far in my playthrough (beginning hours) I have seen some behaviors suggesting that AI might actually have (at least in some situations) a bit of I. During the shootout in the Maelstorm hideout one enemy seemed to try to outflank me by rushing to a cover to my right (ignoring other cover closer to him). When I moved closer to the last man standing in the same location he relocated to a safer spot. Then, when I moved to his flank, he relocated again.

No I'm not satified that there is an instakill option which makes melee stealth pointless. Not happy that the AI is so broken that you are better off sneaking behind them and instakill. Just saying all that being a thing, makes investment in perks for meaningful character progression entirelye arbitrary. I shoul also say, many of the perks are actually bugged and not functioning atm.
In my experience the AI is significantly worse in shootouts in the open world as opposed to missions. Even in missions I've had the AI just take cover and freeze there, not reacting to being shot at from point blank range. Cars just stopping at a traffic light and not moving anymore, that has also been reported before.

Fuck me, game is fucking drug:

I don't get it how could someone finish this in 30h. I am far away from ending and i basically did like 10 sidequests and some NCPD stuff which is nothing. For fucking sure reviewers played on easiest and rushed main quests only just to get review out.
I agree, and I've been thinking the same. Only goes to show there is no limit to journo retardation.

On a sidenote, the whining about performance on PC is getting more and more absurd as more people report their experience. Here is my case:
Asus TUF Mk2 Z97 - June 2014
4790k - June 2014
RAM, 8 GB DDR3
1080ti - March 2017

This is a 6 and a half years old system with a 3 and a half years old video. It runs the game at ~60fps in 1440p at Ultra/high. I don't know what the fuck is there to bitch about.

Can't wait for downvotes. For some reason /r/pcgaming is sucking this game's cock harder than the official CP subreddit. Probably graphicsfags who need to jerk off to the visuals and justify their 3090 purchase.

Another major issue with this game is that the concept of private property doesn't exist outside of scripted set pieces in heist missions. I find it very immersion breaking.

Early in the game I was able to steal thousands of EDs worth of weapons and junk in a gang hideout while they all stood and watched. Anything that wasn't nailed down I took, all the while Jackie chilled in a lift at the end of the room for 15 minutes. The gang just stood there and said nothing.

Even the Outer Worlds had a system to try and discourage this (admittedly it was half arsed and didn't work, but still). As far as I'm concerned this 'problem' was solved ages ago.

These were meant to be intimidating gangers and I just walked straight into their security-rigged den, in a seriously violent dog-eat-dog world, and took what I wanted in plain view. Retarded.

Do you get any new hacking abilities besides the ones you start with? Looking at the perks its like 90% is +x% to one thing or another. I also saw there's a turret shutdown thing but it says it turns off all the turrets for 3 minutes. What? Why? I don't need it to do that to all of them and maybe I don't want them to turn off. Just access to it like in DX 3 and 4 with options going from there. And there's a similar thing for cameras. Turns them off for 3 minutes. What shit design is this?
