i dont need any china trashcan crap.
i want a cheap game, and support with patches and free dlc.

i don`t need any of that crap or warever.
I want a pirate game, and support with cracks and obviously cracked dlc.
As long as you're available as a punching bag when consoletards and oblivionites dominate the market I have no objections.

What happened to that theory that DRM is here to stop second hand sales and not piracy?

That is Day 1 "free" DLC.

Some DRM does stop reselling as when you need to register the game in order to play it and ties the game to your account, Ubisoft "always online" functions as such but that is more of a byproduct that intent.

If It i was up to me I would program the unbreakable DRM myself.
Imbecile. Any DRM can be and will be broken. Because in the final it is one or several conditional jumps.
Unbreakable may be only application where code runs on the server.

If that is how you feel about it then ok. Just don't try to force that nonsense on our children.
Does jb, jae, jz etc tells anything to you? Childrens today doesn't even know how computer works.

You not only love Jumps, but conditional jumps, and jumping to conclusions. You jumped below me with your assumptions and certainly won't be jumping anywhere soon due to your failure to be above or equal to me with your knowledge of ASM.

ASM instructions instruct, and won't teach you what really goes on inside a computer. By computer did you mean CPU? Derp.

Also in one of my former accounts , probably my first, I posted in GD about NASM. But for that I do admit I had changed it by a large amount before I got bored of SOCKETS.

edit: sorry I was so late guys. I have a strange undying disregard for all my fans who might be expecting ME OF ALL PEOPLE to fry small shrimp.

No matter how effective various physical goodies are (and they can be sort of tokens of cool, which would make them fairly effective), they are bound to be more effective than something risky, demeaning and inconvenient (basically an equivalent of surprise buttsecks) that is only inflicted on legitimate buyers and that pirates get to bypass completely.

You can't compete with pirates in terms of pricing, you have to do it in terms of added value, be it actual irreplicable goodies or completely subjective stuff like giving your customers sense of superiority.
:salute: :incline:

What they should do is release all their games for free. Then if lots of people torrent the game, roll out a range of overpriced collectors items to go with it.

You could sell anything from lowish priced junk, to things in the hundreds to thousand dollar range. Instead of a cloth map and tokens, why not think bigger? Limited numbers of banners, swords or mechanical items, all with a certificate of authenticity.

If no one likes your game, you are not left with warehouses full of unsellable toys. If they do like it, you have created a demand for a range of collectors items, for which you can charge premium prices.

The house is already full with various junk, I don't need any more. Perhaps if the bonus stuff would include something really desirable, like a polish prostitute ..

But they give you very clear understanding of how registers, stack, memory, ports and so on works. Now add knowledge what is machine cycle, DMA, IRQ and we know how maked something like computer on 8080 or Z80. And you know what base principles was not changed?
This returns us to the start
YOU WILL NEVER MAKE UNBREAKABLE DRM. Because someone, somewhere will change several bytes and your DRM will be useless code.

By computer did you mean CPU? Derp.
Now you jumps to hasty conclusion, little special rabbit.

The breakthrough came when CD Projekt released RPG classic Baldur's Gate as Polish publisher. It included a D&D book, five CDs (pirates were charging per CD), a map with a seal, a music CD and more.
Baldur's Gate sold 18,000 copies, up from the 3000 average. "Nobody wanted to believe us, including Virgin Interplay," Iwiński said.

Standard priced PC game cost 150 PLN back then. Pirates were charging 25 PLN per CD (a single blank disk cost around 15-20 PLN). Most games had 1 or 2 CDs, Baldur's Gate was released on 5, and I think that had more impact than the inclusion of the squishies.

And no, there was no music CD in BG1 box. Stop the liez, start teh turths, etc.

Maybe it was 165/169. Not sure now.

I remember buying PS:T for 110 PLN (and a few days before the retail release) when we went for a school trip to some computer trade expo in Poznan.
Best school trip EVER.

Anything can be arranged:

What I am thinking of is stuff of this quality:

http://www.drgrordborts.com/forget-me-n ... ial-offer/

But also useful, like a porthole TV:

1950 Zenith "Porthole" Television

With the visual design that went into games like Fallout, or Bioshock, the possibilities are limitless.

so what is the DRM on the boxed copy?

I have no idea, but I finally got around to installing my boxed copy of Fallout:New Vegas and it's installing itself as a Steam game. If I wanted a Steam version of F:NV I would have fucking bought a Steam version of it. I only use Steam to buy games that aren't available in stores in the US. I'm *extremely* annoyed that I am put at the mercy of a 3rd party vendor every time I want to load and play this product, after I went out of my way to buy the boxed version in the store so that I wouldn't be. If software developers REALLY feel the need to check ownership rights every time somebody wants to load their game instead of only doing it once during install that's up to them but the least they can do is build their copy protection into the game themselves instead of just forcing people to use a third party subscription service.

But at least it's not that incredibly annoying Microsoft LIVE nonsense. If I ever unwittingly purchase a game that forces me to subscribe to proprietary microsoft "services" things are going to get ugly. Kids today may not know any better than to let themselves get fucked by vendors with big-brother mentality, but I do.

That's what you get for getting your games from suspicious sources.
