Do this for Prelude to Darkness so I can get hyped enough to play it for a real chunk without quitting the instant something fucks up in the install or it crashes or I see that font they used

I would have bought this game long ago, if it would be available on Steam or GOG or sold separately without any dd client. I don't want to use a billion of digital distribution platforms.

If you want it on Steam, vote for it: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=92962826
Did it long time ago. Also voted for the game on GOG wishlist (although i'm not sure how much this wishlist matters considering S&S Underworld for example has 10 times as many votes as some indie games, that have managed to get in).

I don't think GOG would accept the game in alpha or beta status.

Great trailer, perhaps now finally some more people will pay attention to the game. It definitely deserves it. I always wonder why it seems to be so unknown compared to other indie RPGs. It's fucking awesome!

At least you don't need the Desura client to play it. You have the option of downloading a DRM-free installer there.

After watching that trailer, I went and looked for an LP. Ended up watching 5 hours of some annoying dude playing it. Instant buy.

Wow, this game looks pretty cool! If we buy the alpha, does that mean we can become testers?

The game is fun. A bit lacking in actually making the world feel alive but fun nonetheless. Feels heavily inspired by Metro 2033, though again, it misses the atmosphere of that title.

Anyway, it seems Filipepepe's video did what it should do and attracted some attention. RPS has posted an article about it. Comments are cringeworthy as usual but nice to see the game get some coverage.

lies.
gamersgate doesn't have a client per se, just the downloaders.
desura's client is purely optional and you can just dl standalone installers from the website.

Good to know. It seems i was misinformed. I might buy the game from one of those services then, because the way greenlight is right now i doubt the game will make it to steam any time soon.

How "good" is the alpha story wise so far? I usualy play crpg's for the characters, world and story, combat alone is not enough.

Tempted to give the alpha a go. It's been waiting on my HD since december, after all.

(I remember I didn't get very far in the demo since I was stuck between the two giant metal doors when exiting the base.)

Did you perhaps save while one of the doors was in the process of opening/closing? Did the same once as well, the result was that the door was frozen in the middle of the animation and unpassable, even upon reload. Pretty sure Styg fixed that one. Just avoid saving during the open/close animation of giant doors to be on the safe side.

I haven't gotten too far into the game, but so far the main story is not all that interesting. However, the atmosphere and setting are amazing.
