Honestly, loads of developers have posted on the codex without issue. I really don't think posting on RPG Codex would affect Chris Avellone's career. Yes, this place is hated by certain crowds (cancel culture crowds), but any oversensitive cancel culture types are already going to hate on Chris Avellone regardless of whether or not he posts here, and playing by their ill-intentioned rules won't achieve anything other than a poor state of mental health. Also, those people hardly buy games anyway, so whenever they get mad it's the most impotent of boycotts, just hot air and people trying to get into your head and convince you you should shoot yourself in the foot by listening to them even though they clearly don't have your best interests at heart.

With that said, posting about his court case on the Codex is a stupid idea since you want to have pretty much everything vetted by your lawyers beforehand.

2) Now, was the gaming industry of the past "full of brilliant developers" or did bad games die and most of the good stuff is remembered, because back in the day there was limited reachability and the gaming magazines had to do a sharp selection of titles?

3) Perhaps your perception is skewed, because today many games can see the light of day, so the ratio of bad-to-good games is reversed, but it doesn't mean there are no good games coming out. You simply have to learn where to look and how to do the selection yourself (because you can't count of gaming journalists to make a good selection for yourself).

It does, that's why it's so true. However, before game industry became really large it was practically invented from nothing by smart people who had to work against limited tech etc. Back then you had to be actually good to create games. These days most of game development is "design" and there are like couple of guys who put it together, mostly using existing engines anyway. This makes it possible to almost anyone to be a game "designer" or "writer" without any real skills or creativity which we certainly see in modern games.

To return to the subject, I think we need some kind of rules for "chess club" developers like Avellone. Stay away from SJW women and get a vietnamese or ukrainian wife and marry her like a gentleman.
