Not if you're catholic. I don't see what's so subjective about listening to what the Pope has to say.

Yes its the same for Catholics, flip-flopper. I suppose my religious background should be explained.

I grew up as the son of a Protestant minister in the Deep South. About as deep Bible training as you can get. As it turned out, the best private school in our area was a Catholic parochial school so I received their indoctrination as well, including attending masses and so forth. I ended up starting college early through a full scholarship to a Catholic college (Cistercian school for those wondering which order) and began to convert. I was also given a scholarship to go to the University of Rome where I continuted to study Theology. Unfortunately for the Cistercians the Italian women made me realize that being a priest or a monk would never happen. Since then Ive fallen out with God and am a complete atheist.

So, while I dont know everything, I do have a unique understanding of both Martin Luther's side AND Pope Benedict's side of the altar.

I can even say the rites in Latin if you want ;)

What's the major difference between believing in Lathander and Allah
There is a difference: Lathander exists, while Allah (or God or whatever) doesn't.

There's a huge difference. No pretend religion will ever have the draw on a person's belief system that a real, practiced religion will have. The emotions, history, politics that come from having dealt with, experienced, been exposed to a real, practiced religion. Now you might say, oh but I dont know anything about Buddism so it might as well be false. Ok. Great. But we're talking primarily about Christianity in this thread.

Even more than that, almost everyone reading this thread KNOWS what the 10 commandments are pretty much and knows what Christianity expects as a code of conduct. Unless your Lathander religion makes you read its "bible" how would a player know the ins and outs of the religion...much less have the internal emotional dialog that characterizes religion.

I get what you are meaning about the ability to kind of cartoonize religion and have it in a game...but thats not the same as having a real, working Christian experience in the game.

So now you're a master theologian AND an internet millionaire. Brilliant. Oh yeah, let's not forget that you're also a game developer, lawyer, and jet-setting businessman, too. On top of that, you're also an international playboy who was educated in Rome's finest colleges, and fondler of many Italian women. ZOMG!

What was that flip-flopper? Uhm shouldnt you be looking for your next game to change your review on?

Let's go back through what you've said.

I didnt say I was a master theologian. But yes Im more knowledgeable than most.

I never said I was an internet millionaire. What I do for a living is forecast and purchase beer on a very large scale.

I used to be a junior financial manager (Series 7,8, 63, 65) for someone who had a relatively large book of business. Muncipalities and high-net-worth individuals.

I attended Loyola Law School in New Orleans, LA.
I attended the University of Rome.
I attended MGU in Moscow for a short period as well as a language institute in St. Petersburg.

Feel free to look any of that up in any manner you wish.

Ive been lucky enough to do a lot of travelling.

Yes, Im developing an MMORPG with 20 dedicated and another 10-15 part time people which soaks up the majority of my free time.

My revealing where I got my information from wasnt a show of ego, but an explanation of the source of my opinion. Just like you'd rather know if your text came from the New York Times or the National Enquirer...I was explaining why my comments arent just coming from some joe-schmoe.

You can be jealous if you want. I refuse to hide who I am...especially for someone like you. Its funny that you cant actually respond with a comment thats actually on point about Jesus' purpose of bringing a new light and purpose into the world - but I suspected as much.

Hate me all you want. Tell you what. I wont tell you want absolutely amazing car I drive so that you dont get your deepest feelings hurt, oh kay wittle baby?

EDIT: If it makes you feel better, my beach house in Destin, FL could get totalled by hurricane Dennis.

I find it amusing that you make every attempt to annoy me by referring to me as a 'flip-flopper', as if it gains you any credibility.

That's my point. I dont give a fuck about what anyone thinks of me. If you will read what I wrote, I posted my religious background NOT to say "oooh look at me" but to show you the validity of your source.

Then when Ex attacked I put all his bullshit to rest.

I dont give a flying fuck if "people on the Internet like me." Dont need it. But I dont take shit from anyone. Especially not a pimply little malaysian boy named Exitum.

DarkSign's idea of winning a debate #52:
Call your opponent a derogatory term and when he points out that you called him that, proclaim victory.

Is that from your new book?

"Inflame Your Opponents to Success: How to win enemies and lose arguments." by self-proclaimed internet millionaire and expert on religion, DarkSign, PhD.

I find it funny that you had to run to IRC to ask Alios to help you when I got under your skin:

<Alios> why?
<Alios> what am i supposed to reply saying
<Spetsnaz> lol ex is losing so he wants you to pile on the guy
<Alios> meh

But you are correct. I did call you flip-flopper first with no real reason to. Ok. Yuo = teh win. All bow down before the guy who had to ask for help.

Also find it rather amusing that whenever people start to lose their arguments they bring up the fact that I'm from Malaysia, as if it's supposed to give them some extra credibility.

I'll tell you what, Mr. Internet Millionaire, I'm proud of my country so bring it up all you want. We're a lot better off than most of the countries around us and we didn't have much to start with either. Indonesia, Thailand, the Phillipines and all their abundance of natural resources (like oil and gold) sure as hell wasn't enough to save them from anarchy and poverty.

Yeah, I want people to pile on you, because I'm an asshole like that. It's not like it's a big secret there, dumbass.

Ha haha. So you're going to keep calling me "Mr. Internet Millionaire" even though thats an example of your own mistake? (For those just now reading, Ex claimed that I claimed to be an internet millionaire which I never did)

Ok. Keep on reliving your mistake.

And on the Malaysian thing...nah I dont see it as a put down since one of my best friends is from Bandung.

Quit using the "extra credibility" schtick. You're just picking a part of someones argument and saying their "doing it for credibility" Tired. /yawn.

Oh well. That was a fun little flame fest.

While you might find my decision to include other people in on this argument immature, it's only normal that humans commit themselves to social activities.

On the other hand, your attempt to back up your own argument under an alias and saying the following:

<Spetsnaz> Ex is getting his ass handed to him roofles
<Spetsnaz> lol ex is losing so he wants you to pile on the guy

As if it was somebody else entirely is incredibly pathetic.

Oh well you seem to be taking this far more personally that I am. Passing diversion for me as I track the hurricane.

How different from your attempts to claim I constantly direct personal insults every time I make a post, as if the repetitve, unproven wank you decide to post several times you attempt to discuss anything with me would ever give you credibility.

DarkSign, excuse me if this question is too personal, but what exactly prompted you to convert from protestantism to catholicism ?

Well, you kinda do, don't you? And it's not as if we have any proper arguments. You're always masturbating to me. It hardly matters if I'm having some discussion about politics or religion, you'll always see fit to respond directly to me, instead of what I said, because you're a wanker like that.

Ahhh great question. Well really it was my logical streak.

I realized that if God really is God, he wouldnt need a human (Martin Luther) to reform his church. While God would use people to affect his change, what was the point of praying to the Holy Spirit to guide the church if, after all that prayer, the HS didnt guide it and man needed to reform God's own creation?

Therefore the Catholic church seemed the logical choice.

To be dreadfully honest, I was also being influenced by a girl at the time whom I was in love with.

But it was primarily the logic as stated above.

Keep lying to yourself, honey. As long as you miss the most important thing - irrefutable proof of your accusations - you remain a joke. Your pretension and astronomic sense of self-worth just brands you a self-deluded idiot - and nothing more than that, despite your ravings.

So, basically, Rex is flaming DarkSign for having had a life full of diverse experiences and travel? This is ridiculous.
